running problems

  Clio 1.2 Mk2 Ph2
Hi guys. I own a 1.2 2003 clio. I have been having some running issues with it.

The car is not holding its revs while idling but occasionally jumps back up momentarily. While running the car has no acceleration at all no matter wht gear i am in or what revs i hold it at. This is making it impossible to drive at all.

I am looking for any help at all to see if i can fix it myself before i take it to a garage.

The car has done 75000 miles and had a service done in november (oil and filter, air filter and spark plugs)
I am aware with most cars the timing belt should be done around 70000 miles but i am not sure if it has been done. Could this be a possible cause if it is needing replacing.

any help would be appreciated even if there things i should go and check.

Thanks guys
