Running without lambda sensor in decat for 2 days....

Will this damage the car?
Can't get the one out of my standard Cat so thinking of buying a new one at renault on monday, will it cause any damage?

How much are new Lambda sensors?

Yep tried heating it, doesnt want to budge, and i don't really wanna be pissing around again fitting it back on then the decat another day...

Maybe a job for birchdown when i go up next week then I guess...

i think that the management will try to run rich if the lambda is not working, but if for whatever reason it ended up going the otherway, you could do a fair bit of damage.

Looks like I'll have to wait, although I'll see how much a new lambda is on monday anyways and if it isnt too much then i might just buy another, might work out cheaper than birchdown doing it!

WD40 and the other oil tricks dont work.
I got a spanner with a 2ft handle on it and clamped the exhaust down to get the bloody thing off.

Should be fine without for a few days however, ECU is designed to run rich if the lambda is faulty/missing

Emmisions light is on, but comes on and off as it pleases anyways so thats nothing new!

it's blowing slightly now too, sounds like i've got a turbo fitted!!

if you're really struggling, just take the cat round to kwikfit/whatever and throw them a fiver. there'll be a few open tomorrow

And to be honest I would rather Birchdown did it, I'm traveeling up there anyways so not a big deal.

I'm getting my coilovers set up Tomorrow so I'll reallig the cat then and get it to seal properly, although the noise is quite addictive!!

I think I paid 97 for the front lambda and I believe the back one was about 105. From Renault. That's 8 quid for an extra foot of wire lol.

Leave it, engine(management) does'nt do anything with this one, it's just there to tell you the cat is on it's way or not.

First one, near/on manifold, is the important one. This one has the data for the ecu to go leaner/richer
When this one goes bust your car (enginemanagement) will go in a "safe" mode , making it run rich , or so people say

would'nt worry about the second one at all

In fact, some people (i have) just lost the second lambda somewhere because there was no fitting in the decat ; i just tied the lambda up somewhere under the car , leaving it connected to the wiring. Does'nt do diddly to the cars mixture etc..

It's booked in on Friday to have my new brake bits fitted, so I'm getting them to do the decat too, saves me having the hassle again to be honest.

I only wanted to do it myself so I knew how to do it in the first place, but now I do I'm happy to sit back and watch someone else work

De-catted my PH2 172, first lamba from the the engine is needed.... second one is wrapped up under my exhaust heat sheild thinking its burning sweet sweet air... cant be doing with the emissions light along with the serv & air bag one on lol

you need penetrating oil like plus gas or similar, wd40 wont do ANYTHING to help you get it out

As you'd fully removed the cat you should have clamped the Lambda in a Vice and used the cat as leverage if that makes sense, would have easily come free

My teeth are weaker than my array of adjustable spanners, think I'll invest in a proper spanner set come payday.

I have fitted so many clios with suspension etc from springs to coilovers and only used 2 adjustable spanners haha!

should be able to get a clio specific NTK (same company as NGK) sensor from a local motor factor for around the £50 mark

My mpg seems pretty good, going to work and back is a short journey so never goes above 4krpm, and when i get chance it gets a decent hard drive and i get around 32mpg.

Interesting stuff though
