Rust

  Clio Sport
I decided to put some sound deadening behind the rear speakers....this is what I found..
After a bit of sanding it didn't seem too bad..I noticed the whole panel was full of condensation,so hopefully it's rusting from the inside..( I unblocked the drain holes with a cocktail stick will leave it in while treating) ..After this I went into panic mode and checked the whole car....I actually checked under the car last winter it all looked ok,so I'm surprised on what I have found....I have bought this Bilt Hamber stuff...
i was expecting rust at the back of the petrol cap(never looked before) but it looks ok...(y)I will be coating it just incase.. I'm not looking forward to hours under the car cleaning, sanding, treating and waxing everything in sight,I also found rust forming round the Exhaust/Cat connections ,a good wiring brushing and hammerite krurust seems to have cured that..I plan to paint the area with Rust-Oleum stove and BBQ paint and see if it isn't burnt off..
Anyway sorry bore you all but hopefully I have found it in time...

Yep that's all the normal areas! You can see in my project thread similar surface rust, particularly on the rear end.

Id just rub down the inner arches a bit then hydrate 80. Then a generous dose of S-50 down there will keep you going.

Underneath I grinded it all back, hydrate 80 applied and then UB.

Enjoy, it's messy work 😂

You have done a great job...can I send it round to yours with a blank cheque for Labour? 😂

That's a nice Bilt Hamber collection. Check where the rear beam mounts to the shell as well, mine has bubbled a bit there
