Rusty engine

  Ph1
Whats the best way to remove rust from inside a engine which has been stood a while?

The piston bores are fine but the oil and cooling ways are rusty.

Would patio / cement acid cleaner be up to the job? or is their anything better to use?

Thanks

I'd either try electrolysis or as mentioned Vinegar, but that's going to be a lot of 45p vinegar to cover a block. Electrolysis is easier. You just need a big bin, battery charger, soda crystals, water and a small piece of steal. Failing that, if you're planning on using the block, if you're getting it honed, just have them dip it for you.

Just bang the engine into the car (when your planning to use it), change the oil after 100 miles. Change the coolant after 100 miles.

Drive as normal forever after

^^Pretty much what the fella who will be doing the honing said. Jet Wash it and spray with WD40, the rest will naturally clean off with use.
