Just got back from picking up my new Megane from K-Tec, thought I would start a new thread documenting its progress. Bought It as a treat for my 30th and to use for my Scottish road trip next year.

Usual desirable spec

* Cup pack
* Leather Recaros
* RS Monitor
* Xenons and DRLs
* Tibor wheels

Car drives really well and is standard bar an Engine Dynamics remap, even has the original un chopped exhaust. Only had two previous owners and it has 63k on it. Car was serviced and MOT'd before it left. Car is going to Beaniesport next week to have a check over for peace of mind and to fit new engine and gearbox mounts. Then it will be off to the detailers for a good clean and a bit of protection.

Not much more to say, my experience at K-Tec? Maybe somethings are best left unsaid, but everyone knows how hard it is to find a good Megane these days so I bought it regardless.

Time for some pics, enjoy!

That’s a prime example of prices varying sooo much. That seems cheap compared to anything else on the open market with the same spec.
Same price as the white one mentioned in the other thread that was a CAT something.

I got offered one of these last week for £7400 from another dealer that I buy cars from. Looked to be the same spec as yours too. Same colour as well.
I don’t know too much about them and RS products are hard work to sell so I swerved it.

However, since that day, I’ve seen loads of them in various social media groups and they are growing on me massively and I’m regretting not buying it. They look obscene value for money now.

(And you definitely have the best colour!!)

Great choice Roger. I love a 250 and this colour especially. You have a typo in the thread title though, says Ryan not Roger.

I sold a 200cup to Ktec once, which was a funny experience too.

Not just me then, thought I had upset his mother or something.

Thanks Dan, you should of gone for it! They are becoming more and more in demand and if you can find one with a desirable spec you will sell within a week easy.

Love it! Seeing the topics about them recently has really made me want another one.

Definitely get the mid-box chop done. It gives them so much more personality, without being too much.

I'll message you later lol, yer it pulls really well. Haven't really had a chance to go out and play, but from a cruising side of things it's great.

Yer the car is pretty quiet, I just don't want to bring in loads of exhaust drone so not sure.

Very nice car mate, congrats! Lovey spec, love the recaros!!
Your not saying much about your experience at k-Tec, but the fact you bought it from a ‘specialist’ and are taking it to another specialist for a once over is telling enough and not a great advert for them!

I was exactly the same. In normal mode, I could barely notice any difference in sound to be honest. In sport, it just gives a slightly more aggressive tone when you accelerate, and a few more pops here and there. It doesn't drone at all from what I remember. I think it just makes them sound like a modern OEM hot hatch, it's very subtle, but definitely adds some character.

Thank you, let me clarify the situation. The car is fine, they checked it over before I bought it and serviced it. They said nothing needed to be done. I have no reason to doubt them as the car drives fine as far as I can tell.

It's going to Beaniesport purely for my own piece of mind and so I can see it on the ramps for the first time. The car feels a very slightly jerky on and off throttle so I know the mounts are probably starting to show their age so I'm replacing them and I know the gearbox bolt on these is weak so will change that too.

The problem was the customer service. I'm not one to sit here bad mouthing companies or people on the internet. It is what it is.

Whats the ride quality like compared to the Golf?

Miles ahead. Not sure if it's just the Megs suspension is a bit older and the Golf stuff is brand new, but its alot more comfortable. Enough to make me doubt I have cup suspension fitted!

Does a normal 250 have a sport button? I know it has the traction control down on the right, but that's all I have seen. I think I would need to go out in one with it done to make my mind up or do it in a way that I could fit the mid box back if needs be.

@Rojer sorry if my reply seemed funny, I wasn’t trying to get you to say anything about them, I appreciate you not wanting to badmouth them.

It wasn't funny at all mate, maybe I just caught them on a bad day, who knows. It doesn't really matter as I bought the car based on its condition and how it drove rather than the experience I had.

Press it once, and it’s sport, hold it and it turns off traction iirc?

Interesting, I will have to try that out then!

Yep, Davy’s correct mate. Sport mode will allow you to get into the RS monitor too.

Great car, best colour. I’m biased though!

Thanks mate, I managed to get RS monitor without being in sport mode tho, but would like to see what effect the button has.

Yeah to get rs monitor you press the two buttons on the back of the stalk - typical Renault hiding the buttons

Sport mode is totally independent of that

Lol! I had no idea!

I’ve always put sport mode on first 😂

Its just the different sport modes with in the rs monitor that needs the sport button activated to gain access

You have to have sport mode on to change the throttle map on the monitor.
The extreme makes it feel even quicker but not as drivable.

You May find it’s even had a map that is activated by the sport button. That’s how I got mine mapped. 250 BHP on normal then 300 on sport.

Yeah, I have my throttle mapped to the one before extreme I think.

Really nice that @Rojer , all the love in recently on here for them makes me want one at some point. If I wasn't in the market for a five door, these look like great fun. Enjoy it

Going through the paperwork today and found the previous owners details. Dropped him a text and he was more then happy to fill me in so I gave him a call. We had a good chat for 30 odd mins and he is real enthusiast. He loved the car! He bought it at 12k miles from Ktec and he did alot of the work himself. About ten thousand miles ago he refreshed all the front suspension, new shocks, swivel joints etc. He is going to send me loads of photos and any other bits he has next week. Was a great reassurance to speak to him and find out more about the car and how he treated it. He changed the oil every 5/6k with genuine parts and you can tell as the oil was so clean when I first checked it. It was a cherished car and I hope that I can carry on the love for the foreseeable!

Always worth a message to previous owners. You'll either find it was owned by a chav or a true enthusiast who looked after it completely.
