Saggy suspension - LOTS OF WEIGHT!

  1.2 Clio
Ok,
As some of you know the clio now is cruising with a fair whack of kit in the boot. Currently 125Kg worth.
This will increase to 200KG soon when i ultimatly wall it.
The problem is, stock suspension is suffering.
When i lose the weight the car doesn't sit as high as it used to. Am i making the suspension sag if that makes sense????

Whats the best way to cope with all this new weight???

New shock and coils or will new coils do ok?
Were talking a constant 200kg soon!!!
Coilovers i hear are the best. But surely something will hack that weight without the cost. I don't mind if it drives like a tractor i just want it to sit level, and safe!!!

Thanks guys!

What are you carrying the the boot? The Ex?

Joking aside your suspension should go back to its normal height after a long drive.

Ermm....... well that as well!
Nahh, 2 x batteries 35kg.
And 2 x GT5 subs ~40kg and wood, fastenings and cables!!! So circa 125kg.
As i said how will i cope when i up this to 200kg????
The stock suspension wont handle this surely???

Uprated dampers and springs would help, i'd imagine, although I'd imagine it will put more pressure on your mounting points carrying all that for a long period of time!

Oh i see, i assumed that it was just an occasional thing(something for work).
You will most definately need some uprated springs and shockers but i would suggest removing all that weight... unless its a show car an extra 200kg is going to make the performance shite, the handling dodgy and fuel consumption poor :(

Sound car mate, i know performance i suffer now, lol! Gonna wall it ultimatly making the 200kg. But want to get the stuff bit by bit...
So new shocks and springs? Whats the spacing on a 1.2 8v for the shocks then? Also what do you advise i get to hack this weight?

i would just run one sub and amp off the cars battery... problem solved.
is it a show car or do you just like a lot of bass?

if you need to keep all of the system. new uprated shocks and springs will help. its a lot of weight to be carrying all of the time but it should be ok. will ruin the cars performance and fuel consumption tho

As said before mate...... show car (sound car) i do compete in it... and will compete more when it's walled.
I don't mind that i lose performance..... its a bloody 1.2 anyway... and i dont mind that its lesss MPG... it will only get driven ~1000 miles a year when walled. And currently only does ~ 3000!!!

thats fair enough then.
uprated springs and shocks should help. if there is nothing wrong with the suspension and you're happy with it. leave it for now

Ok what shock and spring should i get then?
Is there anywhere that will do none lowering ones for the back but sell me like 30mm drops for the front... or 30mm drop on back and 60 on front?
As the extra weight, even on uprated springs surely wil drop it.....

It is probably worth checking out what the rear axle weights are for the other clio models, the springs off a 1.6, 1.9 or 2.0 L may be stiffer, there are various lowering springs too, e.g. Eibach.

Sweet so does anyone know what aftermarket springs will hack the weight?
Will the sportlines? And can i mix and match the drops on them ??? 60 front 30 back?

something you could try not sure if it would work is get lowering springs 30mm or 60mm and get them caravan spring saver things. basically packing to stop the spring fully compressing and put them on the back?
