Same Engine Conversion

Just wondering how much i would be looking at to swap my engine from a 1.2 8v RN lump to a newer engine (same engine). The car is a mk2 phase 1.

Basically, my bottom end is knocking quite badly, and I've heard its cheaper to just swap lumps than fix the fucked engine which is on 80k.

How much am i looking at in labour, and if i put the same engine in, am i looking at many problems with ecu etc?

Yep second hand engines easier.

No problems with ECU etc if its the same engine.

Labour say 3 hours out another 3 to get a new one in.

would it be a straight swap for the D4F 1.2 16v engine? Matt Black does them at £300 +vat + delivery iirc.

nope 1.2 16V would mean new loom etc etc etc, ie don't bother

new SAME engine is easy

You could do t yourself in a day easy. Hire an engine crane and your away!

thanks guys, I've seen engines go for £100 (got the box and ancilleries) IS this abour the right price? What would MATT BLACK charge for a 1.2 8v engine?

so 6 hours labour at about £30 an hour? (is that what mechanics charge?)

I would use this as a chance to put a 2.0 in, but the cars going, and I wanna sell it running perfectly.
