I can agree with the time flying thing. I started burning money on cars when I was about 19 and I'm now 25 and ready to buy a house. I'm glad in some ways I've had the car experiencs I've had, but at the same time I think I could have been a bit wiser with my money and I'd be in a better position financially now.
For people like myself who get bored of cars I think there are two fast ways of losing your cash.
1)Buy a new car
2)Modify a car
Keep it 2nd hand and keep it standard and that way you minimise the spanking you take when you sell every two years.
With regards to being 19 and not wanting a house for 18 months. Well in the current situation, if you want a house in 18 months you should starts saving now! It's no good having car paid for and no deposit saved up. Depending on a lot of people's wages, they can't even afford a house on their own without any debt AND with savings! Think about the big picture.
