@dann2707 and other Resident Evil Nerds, I’ve never played any of the games. Yes. Shock horror (get it). I just seem to have missed the whole franchise.

So my question, worth going back and playing them all? Or will the early ones be s**t and put me off because of age, so dive straight into Requiem?

2, 3 and 4 have been remade the past few years (third person)

7 was kinda like a reboot so could be good to come into fresh and 8 was a similar style game. (first person)

9 is a mix of the two styles. (3rd and first person).

Id probably not worry too much about story order. Maybe watch a recap vid. 2, 3 and 9 seem closely linked location wise.

Resident evil 4 remake (2024 ish?)

System shock 2 back in the day used to s**t me up.

Crapped myself a couple of times playing Bioshock for the first time too!

Might have to download this mod for my next playthrough of Requiem... H.E.V. suit and red crowbar from Half Life 🤣

Probably the first one for me was Scarabaeus on the C64. More 'jumpy' I guess because I hadn't a clue as to what I was doing!

I remember my first 'F*CK OFF!' outburst at the monitor screen in F.E.A.R. too. Creepy little b**ch...

Tend not to play many scary games at all. Subnautica as been mentioned, probably isn't scary as such - but heading down into deep water that gets darker, with background noises and the unknown definitely does add tension. Bioshock has a certain creepiness to it too.

A few other games I've played that people might like..

Madison (probably one of my favourite horror games tbh)

Outlasts are also good, the original is pretty clunky. 2nd is decent and is a totally different horror feeling to the others.

Still wakes the deep. Not really scary, but has some tense moments. Feels like an oil rig simulator at times loooool.
