Driving to work this morning traffic started to build up then the guy in front braked sharpley

I did the same and the pedal went to the floor!!!!!

Thank god I was a decent distance behind him so never hit him but it was bloody close Managed to limp to renault Grangemouth where I was told that I would need to leave the keys and they might get to it later!!!!!

Drove so slowly to stirling and Craig sorted me out and took it in there and then and gave me a lift home

Hope its alright was so scary think I will be getting a large bill here!!

Its still under warranty but does the warranty cover Master cylinder? etc?

pump the brakes!! like you have that sort of time on a motorway!

just glad your still here to tell us about it mate

  Not a Clio
Think you misunderstood what i was saying... If the master cylinder is buggered there will be no pressure. Pumping I believe will help. Like i say i may be wrong though.

ABS only kicks in if the wheels lock up.

i have changed my front brake lines, had new discs and ferrodo front pads and the car stops on a penny, and yes pumping brakes does help as it allows the brakes to build up pressure faster than slamming them on! hence you will break quicker and abs wont kick in as early, definatly makes a difference with new brake lines as the lines dont tense up or reduce the amount of fluid going to the brakes like standard ones.

I definantly takes my brakes for granted, i always think they will work (i hope they do) :s

Rightthe car is fixed :)

Apparently one of the rear pads broke apart. This was allowing the piston in the caliper to travel too far thus allowing the pedal to go to the floor Doean't explain why the car wouldn't stop at all though Going to be really nervous of it now :(
