Scorpion Exhaust

  Suzuki SV1000S

After reading all the power gains etc for the different Exhaust systems that have round tail pipes I have decided to get the scorpion System with a 101mm round end.

From the different brochures I looked at it seems to give the best power increase (combined with the induction kit) for the money it cost.

In the brochure it also says they are acustically rolled for better sound enhancement, just wandered if anyone has one of these sytems and has recorded the sound, Ta. Oh here is a pic of the same system but as a 90mm

Another thing, Whereabouts are you getting it from?? cost ? etc??, I got a mk1 172 aswell and have been looking for an exhaust too!!

Well Basically I wanted a single round exhaust jap stlye but they only seem to be custom ones and am not too keen about that.

This was is froma guy in brighton and is £286.50 for the whole system and is a 4" round single, obviously not jap style but close enough.

I wasnt keen on scorpion but this guy said that it was a new system out and that the power increases etc were just right meaning that you didnt lose any torque as you do with other systems where apparently you lose torque but gain overall power, with thic one you gain in both, well you know what I mean (I hope).

So thinking that this was on a big comission from scorpion I rang a few other places just for advice rather than buying and they said that scorpion exhausts were equal to magnex if not better and the oval magnex just looks silly on the clio (too big) and I am not keen on the twin pipe exits which is the other one they do, plus it was much more expensive

So after looking for about 3 weeks I have decided on this one

Koorrr rabbited ona bit there, lol

Is the £286.50 for the full system or from Cat-back. I only ask as this is exactly the system that i will be after. Omp do a racing system including de-cat but its a tad more expensive. Cheers Mate

Being a hidden tailpipe fan i have to say thats the neatest looking visible tailpipe ive seen for the 172 mk2 - looks like the backbox part may not be visible when viewed from rear, and tailpipe doesnt stick out 3" beyond bumper, just checked scorpion website & says dont sound boy-racery

post pics if you get it !!

IMHO Scorpion are on a par with Magnex, in terms of quality

performance gains will be identicle to the magnex also, as roughly the same amount of R&D has gone into them

the Scorpion will sound a little more throaty than the magnex, but not boomy like the k-tec system

UK suppliers for Scorpion are Ikon Automotive, based in Rushden, Northants (use yell.com if you want phone number, used to be called Motech)

you wont be dissapointed. got a scorpion on me valver and never had a problem with it. quietish on the mway but a bit droney if you got no music on. put your foot down and it sounds great tho.

Ive got the 4" Scorpion (cat-back)on my 52 Cup (previous owner put it on).

The tail pipe is a wee bit large IMHO, but the sound is luvvvverly! You get a good "bassy" burble on idle, and it stays sort of raspy all the way through the rev range. Does get a bit tiring on long journies tho ,but thats the price u pay I guess! I wouldnt say it was too loud, but then again i used to have 2 of these on my old Mk1 106 Rallye....now THAT was loud! ;)

Thanks for the contributions guys, really looking forward to saturday now, I will take some Pictures for you guys to see,

The other good think is that apparently you dont see the backbox, because the majority is at the top if you get me.

Will let you know about motorway travelling too.

Mick H, I had a straight through centre exit system on my 1.2 before, now that was loud. Didnt get a chance to change it on my Cup so this will be my first cat back system, even though I have had 5 clios madness eh!

George, would love to see some pics mate, as I am swaying away from the twin 3.5" K-tec. As someone else said, u dont see the back box either, which is one of the things i am looking for!!!

Why dont Magnex just make a nice 3" round back box for us non boy racers. it seems from the posts on the exhaust subject [at least one a day] that they would certainly sell well and would be a vast improvement on current hanging too low boxes that they make at the moment.

Seem to remember the Evo magazines mk1 172 having a pre-production round Magnex back box on.....looked ok to me.
