had some new pads fitted about a thousand miles ago by edde, was expecting them to screech/squeek for the first couple of hundred miles until they bed in... but its been over a thousand miles now and its still screeching just as bad.... although, it only seems to happen with the pedal lightly pressed, if its pressed hard it dosent do it. anyone have any ideas?

re-copper grease the back of the pads.

What kind of pads are they? Just standard jobbies?

As Mark says. Take the pads out and copper grease the non friction side of the pads.

Problem solved.

You may want to wire brush and generally clean the calipers too.

yeah ed wire brushed the calipers... il put some copper grease on.

Sorry f0zy was going to message you I've got way to many to answer at the moment.
Cooper grease is a waste anyway. It washes away. The brakes shouldn't scretch though much depends on what you accept realy. You did bed them in a bit didn't you?

well it depends what you mean bed them in? theyve been driven on for over 1k now and theyre still doing it like the day they were put on...

60mph then brake hard to 5 or tn them accerate back to 60 and hard brakes down to 10 do that a few times and then let them fully cool and don't use them.

If you've copper slipped the back of the new pads and its still doing it then it'll be your discs.

New pads on old discs is not a good combination. Your new pads will be nice and flat and your discs wont be as there worn down by old pads, hence squeaking.
