Seat Questions

Got some questions on the seats i have just bought, decided i want them in for trax so here goes!

1) Do any side mounts fit any seats? If not which ones will fit sparco evo 2 plus seats? (except sparco obviously )

2) Airbags and pretensioner's, can the resistors be fitted without damaging anything so i can go back to standard. And can I turn off the airbags and pretensioner's with a clip system?

3) If i dont do anything and leave the airbag light on and everything will it cause any lasting damage. It wont think the airbags have deployed and ruin the computer or anything?

4) Harnesses, what should I get. I like the sabelt ones with the fancy buckle (like grays) but cant find these (anyone got a link). Can find loads with a normal seatbelt buckle but i think they look a bit shite. Also do i want 3 or 4 point?

5) Where do i mount the harnesses, I think the vertical straps go into where the rear seat belt sockets were (so a 4 point would end up having 2 in one hole so may aswell get 3?) but not sure on the side straps?

6) Do I need to get under the car to fit the seats?

Hopefully someone will know all my answers, i'm sure they will

Found out so far I can just tape the resistors in (pikey luke lol) and i need to get under the car to fit my subframes.

Still a bit confused over how to mount the front harness straps.

Most of them are pretty generic. There will be some cases where they are brand specific - not sure with sparco. They normally provide you with measurements of the sidemounts so you can just measure up before you purchase most of the time.

Won't damage anything. Airbags won't deploy without the resistors in. No need for clip for anything.

No long lasting damage

Id get 3" four point. Mine were 2.5 inch 3 point. Comfy and easy to get into but the 4 points look like a proper job. You may have issues with MOT with some harnesses due to the aircraft style buckle some come with.

To do it properly you need to add a harness eyebolt and also a plate http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Motorsport/Harnesses_&_Accessories/Harness_Eye_Bolts_&_Plates/1758 ask gray for more info on how he did his. They need to be installed properly.

6) Do I need to get under the car to fit the seats?

Yup, you need to undo 4 x 13mm polts. Two near the sill and two near the exhaust well on each side

Mine were 3 points so only had 1 strap from the rear of the seat. I just bolted that 1 strap to the isofix hole.

Expect to pay that much for harnesses mate. If you really want to s**t yourself google scroath racing harnesses. They're £££££.

Best bet is ebay. Gray paid somet like £50 for both of his.

But where did you bolt the front straps?

I've seen harnesses for like £50 each what i'll probably end up getting, like stuarts.

mike ill send you link for some eyebolts if you like, and i fitted them into the existing safty belt bolt holes so you know there are safe and strong points, can show you pics of mine if need be, also another option instead of resistors is to leave them connected up and cable tie them to the base of the seat out of the way.

Yeh mike if you dont mind, dont the connectors plug into the seat tho, hence the resistors.

Not sure mate. Technically you're supposed to use x4 eyebolts.

Think gray used the existing isofix hole and some where near the rear door cards (behind them)

these thread into the existing holes in the sill as there m10 thread so you'd need 2 one for each side

Those are the exact same harnesses I had.

And i think you'll find yours were blue , thought they were luke too tbh, probably got confused with your name lol

Yeh, but one is one type and the other is the other i think.

I want eyebolt i reckon though, seem to have more options with them.

Right, so most are bolt in, and the bolts are removeable. So its bolt in i want.

That will also save on the eyelets too.

So what are my options for mounting the front harnesses if they cant attach to the sidemounts?

thb you can have either i prefer the clip style onto the eyelets but which ever you go for theres an easy solution to fix them down
