Seatbelt warning light

as above, permanently lit and has been since it was picked up new from the dealers 2 years ago! Any thoughts where to start looking?

MK2 172 by the way, and decided not to let the dealer try and fix it out of fear for what damage they might do...

pull the wire out of the seatbelt clip it will turn it off

Is the light only related to the drivers seat?

its the connection for the Seatbelt Pre-tensioners, go into any dealer, tell them what it is, and they can sort it for you in 5 minutes

yup it is its the little wire that clips into the seatbelt receptical thingy bit

That will be covered on your warrenty if you still have it so Id go to the dealer

Had it in the dealers yesterday (Lookers Macclesfield)... not a good start when the mechanic admitted he had never seen this fault before.

Anyway, without looking at the car at all (checking technical notes I guess) it was decreed that a new stalk should be fitted. So, Ill have to go in again once that has arrived...

Desperate to get it done quick as serious warranty-invalidating work is scheduled in a couple of weeks time
