Securing a cd changer 02 clio

Im just after ideas on how to fix my multichanger in place.

My car didnt come with a multichanger so I cant see where Renault put theres. Anyone got pics ? I understand Renault put it on a tray under the passenger seat but all i have under there is a plastic cubby hole

The changer is a Sony CDX-T70MX which is pretty small so shouldnt have any trouble fittin in.

It looks to me like I will have to pull the plastic storage bit out cut some holes through the carpet to lay down some velcro (the carpet would move)

or

Much more securely bolt it to something to deter tea leaves :D
But where on earth too ?

Finally where do renault route the cd changer cables to reach the headunit ?

Cheers
Riot

RIOT, I had a look at mine not long after getting the car, my 10disc sony wouldnt fit (actually it would be the loading mechanism was blocked) but the T70MX should fit easily.

Im lucky as I have a renault multichanger under the seat so I plan to house my new changer into the same tray. However, I dont think I can use the existing wires as they are different connectors (uness I can get adaptors which would be nice)

If you want and its not raining I get some pics tonight.

PS: What do you think of the changer? Had chance to play with it yet?

pics would be extremely useful, hopefully fitting everything tomorrow so not tried any of it yet.....

p.s. pics pics pics !!!! ;)

Eek, Ok, watching F1 qualifying (0.21) so not going to post pics tonight - sorry - only just got home  ill have a check tomorrow morning and if i get up early enough ill take some picks and post them, if not then sorry, youve helped me with adapter choice so i will help if i can. Really too pissed to attempt to disassemble my changer etc atm.

I will !!! post pics tomorrow but cant guarentee what time ill get up - love to know how you get on

Cheers bud extremely helpful, its raining here at the mo so installations been put on hold until tomorrow :(

I realised my mate had a cd changer in his clio yesterday and took a look at his but his is a completely different changer and securing mechanism to yours, still a renault fitted one though.

In this pic here:

underneath the two pieces of visble metal at the front are two holes which his is bolted onto. There is no tray at all

That leaves it a bit exposed though and can be seen easily through the windows.

Oh well at least I know where all the mounting holes are now cheers bud

Roll on dry weather..............

Np, glad it helps, hope to hear how you get on.
Im going to be ordering mine sometime next week and one of the 2 adapters, still havent decided which - you got the autoleads one right?

Im hoping to fit the changer onto the tray and drop the tray under the floor. The issue I found was without the tray the changer sits too low to allow the the cds to come out.

Also have to find out how to route the changer cables, will follow the existing ones but there are more wires than the existing one.

Can you see if I might be able to fit it into the tray? http://cliosport.tonylawrence.com/RenaultChanger/pages/104_0484.htmlhttp://cliosport.tonylawrence.com/RenaultChanger/pages/104_0484.html

Yes mine is the autoleads one.

I dont think it will fit the tray due to its small proportions but if you drilled a few holes in it to match the mounting brackets supplied with the changer then yes you can re-use it.

You can either mount it horizontaly or vertically with the bracket supplied
You use two of the three holes to choose your mounting method, see pics to explain.

Horizontaly

Vertically

The only extra cable is the audio cable which is just a phono cable. Sony supply a 5 meter cable with the changer :)

Yes you have all the connections which the autoleads convertor needs to function presuming one of the sets of phonos is an auxillery/ bus audio input

The changer comes with two five meter cables, one for the bus lead (round with two pins in it) and one for the audio (red and white phono plugs
Thats everything you need to connect it to the headunit

But with the autoleads cable the changer bus lead has to pass through the little electronics box before then plugginig into the headunit.

Its just a matter of plugging things together.

Also im probably going to mount my changer in the boot now out of site

Right its in.... but I dont have an mp3 cd to hand to try it out with

I dont think the track names are going to work with my headunit though as when I named a CD I had about seven letters to enter and no more....

The only annoying thing so far is that to change discs in the changer I have to firk around for the remote control for my headunit. I havent found a way of making it change from the steering wheel controls :(

Ive mounted it in the boot vertically as there wasnt enough room to fit it under the seat without it being visible to thieves. Its screwed onto the piece of plastic just behind the seats then into a metal bar which the plastic is covering

Im going to make an mp3 cd and try it out tomorrow

Cool, thanks for the info, I hope you figure out how to change discs/albums/tracks from the remote. Ive no Idea how you would do this...

Im almost certain that all cd changer controls on my headunit have to be done via the remote controls (infra-red) but thats just my headunit.....it only has 4 buttons on it volume*2 source and off.

My guess is that a head unit with buttons on the front for changing preset station i.e. 1 to 6 will allow you to change discs but thats just a guess

Im just going to use the little rotary infra-red remote control supplied with my headunit whenever I need to switch discs. Just need to find a discrete place to stick it to.

Hmm, this is a picture of my head (from Ebay):

As you can see there are 10 buttons along the bottom, this is how I used to change CD when used with my 10cd changer, hoping these will work with the T70MX. Shame it cant be done from the steering column :(

Also read this on another thread using the Connect2UK adapter, this is how they change the CD in the changer, does this work for you?

The stalk controls are:
Top buttons: change source from CD -> Radio -> AUX - Both buttons do the same thing
Roller on back: Track up/down, preset station up/down etc
Volume buttons: Volume
Button on bottom: in Radio mode it changes the tuner type (Preset -> manual tune) and in CD mode it changes disc (if you have a changer) or changes album if you have an MP3 disc in.

In Radio mode minr changes the band and in cd mode im not sure. I think it changes albums with an mp3 cd though.

I dont have any cds to burn an mp3 cd too at the mo theyve all diaspeered so I cant be sure at all.

Ok bottom button does noting in cd mode unless you hold it down, then all it does it skip to the next track

I think it will work as a change album button in mp3 mode

Ok, thanks for the info, got mine ordered so if I get some nice weather its fitting time. Is the hazard panel easy to remove?
