Chris - do what you think is right, not what someone whose never even been in/driven one thinks (I know that some on here are speaking form experience - others aren't)

You could go & see that silver on & fall in love with it & buy it, then (as said) sell it next year & get a mk2, the good thing with that vee is that it won't lose any money as prices have been stable for ages now.

Or alternatively, it might be a dog (which I doubt it is, as it does look good)
Or just leave it till whenever & get the mk2.
