SERV & Airbag light - Error code DF176

Hi everyone, first post with pain in the ass problems!

I've tried the simple seatbelt pretensioners & I've also checked the ECU under the cupholders, it's clean as a whistle!
Are there any more problems I should be looking at?

One of my mechanic friends did a service on it yesterday & I specifically asked to try solve the problem with everything else that was getting done, (coil springs, drop links, bearings, etc.) & he stuck it on a computer.
Error codes are the DF176 (air bag missing multiplexed information, along with;

90B4DI
9080DI


The car is a Mk.2 53 plate, 1.2 16v

I HAVEN'T tried to change the Airbag ecu yet, I've checked the fuses and the airbag is turned on, on the passenger door.
Car hasn't had airbags deployed or been accident damaged.

Had an Auto Electrician look at it this morning and reckons that it's the Airbag ECU.

The readout on the computer said both the Driver and Passenger airbags are Missing/Short Circuit.

Any other things I could check before buying an ECU?
