Service Costs and parts which broke!!

Hi. 1st thread so hello to all.. mine is a 182 54 plate. Got it serviced at a Renault dealer in Oldham. £230...for the 1st 12000 mile service. Went in for 1: Temp Gauge erratic
2: Loud groan / grind from FOS suspension area
3: Exhaust rattling like mad
4: Running rough

Came out:

1: Broken water temp sensor - replaced
2: Greased suspension mount FNS - no noise any longer
3: They couldnt find anything wrong with the exhaust
4: Running rough was due the the temp sensor being broke??

The price they quoted before it went in was the price I paid when i took it away!

They also found the ECU bracket (behind the battery) which bolts to the FNS inner wing had snapped!! - so parts on order.

How much for a oil and filter change??

Oil and filter you can do yourself its dead simple. Say £40 for the oil and filter and new sump washer and then 15 minutes to do it.
The 12k service needs checking other bits though thats why you have to pay between £130 and £250 for it (depends where you live etc).
The temp sensor failure is a common one ahnd will explain your rought running.

The ECU brakcet isn't very stong and another common failure so no problem there.
The work will have been done under warently ie the daelership writes up a bill and sends it to Renault and Renault reemburse the garage.

dont laugh.........how do I get to the oil filter...my arms are to big to reach down the front of the engine.. so Ill have to go from underneath??
