What is Renault's f**king problem ?!!!!

Thought that would set the mood nicely.

Just gone over 36k so thought id better sort my service out quick.

Got a list of 4 renault dealers within 30 miles and started ringing around. 2 of them put me on hold and then forgot.... so i hung up.

And the other 2 I argued with...... "surprise surprise" i hear you say lol

First one said £350 and no aux belt needs doing..... i said it does so add it on..... "no, cant do that sir". Knowing the general jist on a conversation with reno dealers i gave up and thought 4th time lucky.

So this last guy said the aux belt doesnt need doing till 72k and when i contested it saying it 'does' and that i have proof in the service book, he got a serious attitude with me, then said that if i wanted it added on it would be a total of £660.

The only ones left are to 2 that ignored me and they are usually rubbish and expensive.

I think Scotland deserves a specialist, but for now i might just go independant... think thats a good idea?

I've given up with Renault dealers now, and just use Rentech.

Don't touch Renault lol. Rentech as above will be a million times better, and that's a precise estimate.

lol.... i was seriously thinking that fred. Could drive all the way down, have a nice lunch, get it serviced properly by you guys, drive back and have money left for a great night out, with me paying, for less then that lol.

sorry dont mean to hijack but where are you fred? would service mine? is there any other places to get it serviced dont want to take it to renault dealer for obvious reasons and i'd rather have a renault specialist let loose on it

Tell the dealer you have had a quote for £250 inc. accessory belt, ask them if they will match.

I charge £250 all in for the 36k service with belt.

I expect you may have a good local garage near you, most independants look after customers well, wouldn't hurt to phone round.

Think ill give that a go.

Im currently looking for good independant garages near me and seem to have found one thats been established for ages and is an Alfa specialist lol.

Although tomorrow i will say 250 with belt as thats what you charge and see how close they come.... although first i have to prove to them about the aux belt lol.

They never make it easy do they

PM edde here, and ask him for the shortened aux belt change method. Explain this to the dealer thats this needs carrying out on top of the normal service.

A 36k (12k) service should be £180 ishy, and then the belt & 30mins work on top.

I tell them things all the time and they seem to take offense as im telling them their job lol

The guy just wouldnt accept my view and then got all shirty so hes lost a customer.

According to this guy, and another garage the cost of 36k is £310 and then with the aux on top its another £350.. So 660. Its a joke.

TBH, if i have no luck tomorrow, thats my relationship with renault as a customer gone for good... just stay independant i think.

The reason most dealers don't know the AUX belt needs chnaging is because the rules changed on the 172 it used to ebe 72k for the aux belt but there so many problem its changed to 36k.

Seeing as this is back.... thought id just say that i think ive found a good independant garage in edinburgh and their set up looks great.

I was in the area so i went in at 6.00pm thinking no one would be there. Turns out they are open, i go in a recognise the guy behind the desk. Then he says "you still got the 182" lol. He was the guy i dealt with over a year ago at renault and he left to join this garage. Only guy there that i though made an effort and knew his stuff..... good news then !!

He knew all about the 36k service on my 182 and said that the price would be about the same as what Mike said he would charge, but will phone tomorrow to confirm.

Had a quick look in the service area and saw a couple mercs, volvos and a porche so looks good.

Looks like my days with Renault dealers are over... yay!!!

£155 for the service inc vat, plus 1hour extra labour (£45ph+vat)

I decided that I wasn't going to put up with Renault's vrap service and high prices so I found a very good local garage using this website http://www.goodgaragescheme.co.uk/

The garage I found did a great 1st service for £145 which included a new filter and rear wiper. My local Renault garage wanted £225!
