Servicing Madness!!!

Hi Guys,
Might be a bit of a long post but bare with me . Servicing intervals here in Dubai are every 10,000KM or 6,250 miles. Thats half the distance than the UK servicing schedules....i can understand it as the conditions and enviroment here are to the extreme....heat,sand etc.
Now here comes the biscuit taker!!!!!!!! They've reduced servicing intervals to every 8,000KM or 5,000 miles!!!!!! .

Thats just insane!!! I do approx. 1,600 KM a week which means i'll be getting my car serviced every 5 weeks which at 150-200 pounds a time is mind boggling. I guess as i'm coming home in August/September i can put up with it but jesus,every 5,000 miles is just a money making bonanza for them! Roll on UK servicing intervals!!

change the air filter yourself and get it done at 12K (a few stamps in UK will help) - sell in UK no issue!

Its going in for its 2nd service on Sunday and after that i think i'll just take it in every 10,000km or 6,250 miles,no way i'm going every 5 weeks.
I've got an aftermarket filter already so least thats something saved. It needs an oil change,new fuel filter,tighten the handbrake cable.
What else is done on the 2nd service? It would be 24k in the UK but i've only done 15k.Are brake pads changed on 2nd service usually?

Does that mean if you bought an EVO you'd have to get it serviced after every drive?

Coolant and brake fluid needs changing at 24k

Renault advise this though so if you've only done 15k you could probably leave these a bit longer.

Look at the handbook...Coolant & brake fluid 24k/every four years..it's there in print.

A lot of money especially considering its going to be every 5 weeks!!! It takes 3/4 weeks to get a booking aswell so as i soon as i leave i might aswell book my next service,lol. The thing is,most people here know next to nothing about their cars so will gladly take it every 8,000km....thats supercar service levels!

As you say its well over the top and like you said the people that know stuff all about cars are very happy to oblidge and pay the money because they think its a good thing for them... Seems like its the government/car companies trying to get more money over there!!!

Go to an independant garage on an industrial estate for your "in between" services.

Just learn to do it yourself, whats the problem, no one makes you get your car serviced, its not the law

Called a FSH. You heard of one of them? Come to selling time i'm gonna need it. I'm only here for another 2/3 months anyway so i'm not really that fussed but i'll be talking to the manager on Sunday and asking him a few Q's as to why the need to drop the service intervals.

It is ridiculous and is probably another money making ploy.

It's kinda the same with the evo....that engine isn't made of chocolate and could probably easily do 6000miles plus between services....it's just the b**dy dealers up to their tricks!
