Servo renewal ?

  CLIO 172
Hi my first post so hello to everyone and thanks in advance for any help. My car phase 1 172 sport. The brake pedal is going almost to the floor so i suspect master cylinder ive checked everything else, when i checked the brake fluid level it was very low, after topping back up and restarting the engine the car was smoking alot from the exhaust the smoke had a funny smell and didnt look like burning oil. So my questions are, if the seals have gone in the master cylinder, can the brake fluid enter the servo and the get sucked into the engine and cause the smoking. Will i need to replace the servo and master cylinder. And can the servo be replaced with the engine in situ, i was told that to replace the servo the engine would have to be removed. Thanks for any help.

Hi can anyone help please, can the servo be removed without removing the engine. My local garage says not. I am wanting to make a decision whether to just sell the car for spares, or to fit a new servo. If it can be done i will do it myself. I have found a guide to the master cylinder it looks like it comes out after removing the front wheel, inner wing and engine mount but i cant tell if theres enough room to remove the servo the same way, does anyone know if you can get to it or not. Thanks Gary
