setting off a 182

I find it realy hard to set off in my 182 without spinning my front wheels, even with the esp on.

My cars only done 6000 miles n front tyres nearly bald.
Any1 else have trouble?

sorry if its been asked before, but how on earth did u afford a 182 at 18!! lol, bet ur insurance is a killer!

Nope - im dead serious!!

When I first got mine I wheelspun everywhere, not used to 170 odd PS going thru the front wheels.

Hardly get it at all now as im more gentle on the throttle and I slso have 15s!

18!

i thought i was bad, im 20 and a have a 172.

Its worth it though....every time Mr. de-badged 316i wants a play. See my avatar!...... mwah hah ahah ah a:devilish:

:D lol, i never really had a problem in the cup either, i did struggle for traction about twice but after that i learned to control it, besides that i couldnt stand that horrendous banging they do

Good point. Its all about feathering the throttle back when the front wheels start to slip.

The banging is a nice side effect of wheelspin though.

18! Feck me!

They wanted £1800 to insure my cousin of a 1.1 Escort at 18!

Take it you have a good deal on insurance. Mind you my other cos JONGSR4 had a Lancer Evo 2 at 19.

I never do fast standing starts. Just knackers the tyres, clutch and the rest of the transmission.

More importantly it plays on your cars greatest weakness - the FWD system which is not good when you are up against the odd MR2 or WRX.

Let everyone else steam away from the lights. 30 to 70 is where its really at.

Just b*****d the accelerator until it knocks itself out of gear, steers you into a wall on the left or a tree on the right..

Found it best to launch a 172 / 172 cup at a lowly 3,000 rpm otherwise you will get spin. Its a car that deserves an LSD IMO, the way it spins all its power away in 2nd and 3rd gear when exiting corners is infuriating!

ive done 8000 got plenty of tread left

must be driving like a pussy

I dont have a problem with setting off in my 182 at all. It has plenty of traction. Stop driving like a r****d ;)

{EDIT} The ESP TC has nothing to do with it, as it allows the fronts to light up anyway (up to a point)

Get it rolling then plant the throttle, no point in sitting there lighting up the front tyres and burning the precious rubber! 14,000 miles and still on my original set of Michelins and Ive had plenty of fun over those 14,000 miles. More patience and control required me thinks!

happens in any fwd struggling for grip, ive had it in a 1.3 fiesta before! my 205 did it too - i think its the driveshafts screaming for mercy.

i never spin my wheels, i like my wheels bearings, clutch, gearbox, driveshafts, bushes to much. plus you go alot faster when your wheels arent spinning .

£600 fully comp..... through dads company http://www.cliosport.net/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

Long story mate but cheap as chips

BTW my front tyres have lasted no more than 5.7k, there slicks now

Lets hope the next lot last longer

  Shhh

I used to get it too wheel spin in 1st by pulling away hard then about 4,500rpm it would spin, but i soon realised at £135 a tyre from kwik fit its not big nor clever to wheel spin.

I can spin it if i rev it hard and plan to wheel spin, but its not easy to spin it with traction on, but turn it off, reverse a little, put into 1st before you stop going backwards, dump the clutch and you sit there for a few secs before you shoot up the road...

Loads of smoke, and loads of tyre tread nolonger on the tyres.
