Sevicing costs 172 CUP.

Just though Id give you all a bit of info.

I recently got my CUP serviced. My mate works at a parts department and has access to renault parts at cost, but even at full price they arent too much more, i get about 15% discount. Any how I got a 12,000 servicing kit from him for around £28 and went round the corner to Halfords and got myself 5.5 Litres of Magnatec - £22. Thats £50 in total...

The service was going to cost me £230 from a renault main dealer. I arranged with them that I would supply my own parts which they were more than happy with :)

I booked it in and at the same time I had some warrantly work carried out. btw. If anyone has a CUP and the front suspension squeaks when turning then Renault have released a modification which envloves a full refit/re-mill of the front strutts.

The total bill came to £110inc vat + my £50 of parts = £160. A bit better than the £230 from them direct.....

Hope that helps..

Mike.

^^^ Agreed, much better way of doing it. I got my uncle to get all parts as he is in the trade. Got all parts for my 24k service for about £50 / £60. Luckily my uncle did the service free of charge :), but if I had only got my parts through him and taken it to Renault for the service, I imagine it would have been half the price they charge.

I got a 24k service done on my 172 today for £122 from a local Renault specialist (ex franchise). The labour was £48.

My front suspension squeeks when turning at low speeds onto my driveway, would this be the same thing you are talking about? If so how do I go about getting it sorted? I should hit my 12k service mid-August.

  Weeman sucks ****

i only paid about £120 for my 12k service at my local renault dealer and about 160/170 for the 24k!

mines in for a 48k soon which is gonna cost me £230.

ukaskew, let renault know about the noise and theyll sort it. mine did the same but not sure what they did to fix it, probably got the grinder out. does it sound like a goose?...no laughing lol.

Bit of a creek if anything but yes I can see where you are coming from, I would never have noticed it if it were not for my driveway which I do a full lock right turn onto, when I go up the curb (just the low bit) it makes the noise. Thats the only time it ever happens, speed humps etc are all ok. If its not serious I will hold off until my service, the way Im going it wont be far off anyway (got it 4 weeks ago on 8400, approaching 11k now.)

I get the noise described here, since I also have a tight alley-way entrance to my drive.

Unfortunately Im now out of warranty, so is it worth getting fixed? It doesnt seem to be doing any harm otherwise.

Hey guys, sorry for the delay been away for a couple of days. Yeah that squeak is exactly what I had. I like you, have a full lock turn in my drive and its a bit bumpy, so I noticed the squeak more than most. They took off the front suspension and re-milled the tops of the struts, apparently. All went back on and is now feeling a tad tighter and the squeak is gone. All under warrantly. Im not too sure if you are out of warranty that you would need to get it done but on my servicing notes it took 0.9 and 0.5 hours to get it done... so have a think.

ukaskew - if you just tell them about the squeak when you book it in then they sholud have the servicing notes on the modification. Apparently its a known mod from renault. Get the bits first and the oil, it will probably get you a free tyre..... (mine were getting a bit low)

This squeaking?? Mine only seems to do when turning to the right on almost or full lock and only seems to happen on the right side too is the same thing???

Yeah mine was actually on the right as well, with the lock on full right lock. Not on the end stops of the steering but close. The sound is like a grind/squeak and appears to come from just behind the steering wheel, therefore the front strutt, top, rhs. Sounds exactly the same as what I had.

If your in warranty, then your set :)

I got my 12k and 24k services done at the dealers £100 each all in and the major 36K £220 but they tried to lump in £305 in required work and parts such as a rear wiper, rear pads and stuff but i told them to stick that and done those bits myself. £110 plus parts you supplied yourself sounds a bit crap to me sorry.

£230 for a 48k? why? its not a major.

I had exactly the same fault on mine (it was only on right turns too), since they sorted it under warranty its been fine. Get it done before your warranty runs out if its coming up to 3 years old.

Same here! Squeak is gone but now there is a different noise coming from the steering! Is there anything that i could look at myself to check? Doh!

I think Cableguy was suggesting that it would be most helpful if youd share the details of who/where this mega-cheap garage is.
