I have to say, I thought a ban was a bit OTT for the guy in the clio - as if the copper had pulled over earlier, he would have had a due care and attention (and they passed an exit - so his excuse of nowhere safe to pull him didnt really wash!) so probably 6 points max, as it was the guy in the clio got mad, put his foot down and ended up with a ban.
Im not condoning the way the guy drove (tailgaters annoy me too!) but had the cop pulled him earlier he would most likely have kept his licence (and who can comment on what effect an unmarked 3-series doing as little as 27mph in lane 2 of a D/C could have on any of us, especially when youre in a hurry!)
Not wanting to wind people up, just an opinion...
Very true - although he was only doing that after being behind the Beemer for a good while, and the copper eventually letting him past. My point really was that Im not condoning the way he reacted in any way - he did drive like a prat, but had the copper identified himself as an unmarked car earlier he would have prevented the guy dissappearing off at 100mph and undertaking the other car - almost seemed as though the copper had decided to sit there for a bit having seen the guy tailgating then light the blue touch paper and do him for everything he could. He could just have easily signalled that he was an unmarked car at that point and escorted the guy to a safe place to stop while he was in front.Quote: Originally posted by Clart on 14 June 2005
