should i ask renault to replace my dephaser and belt kit or a specialist

  172,scenic, trafic
i have a 03 cup with a blown lump, i have another engine and have whipped the head off to replace the head gasket a s a precaution. i have bought a new dephaser and belt kit.
i replaced the cambelt on my previous cup with no problems but all the talk about the floating pulleys is scaring me to death.
so.... should i put the head back on , which im more than confident to do and take it to a renult dealer to do the rest? or i guess someone will say nooooooo dont do that take it to a specialist. trouble is i cant find one in cornwall!!

i imagine most would say specialist. hopefully someone will be along to recommend a specialist in cornwall. or you could ask in the 'clio discussion' forum?

i keep forgetting the discussion forums.lol. renault should no how to do it properly tho shouldnt they? my grand scenic spends so much time in the dealer i thought now we were on first name terms they would do it if i dropped the engine in to them. but the other hand says if they cant fix your scenic, actually they ferked it up ! (altho different dealer) then specialist is way to go. i would like to have a go at it myself but as engine is out seems a good idea to get it done. decisions decisions. it cant be that hard .lol

I think it's worth you travelling to a specialist to get it done as it'll be much cheaper and they'll likely have more experience working on your car.

Yes, a Renault dealer should know how to do it but how many F4R cambelts will their mechanics have changed before??

It's probably easiest for you to go up the M5 to visit Fred at BTM in Birmingham.

Pure motorsport, K-tec Racing, Rentech....

I'd rather eat my money than leave the job to a dealer.

K-tec isn't all that far from you....

I wouldn't take it to Renault, just because I hate getting financially raped and talked to like i'm a few sandwiches short.
