Should I let my 182 go cheap?

  Discounted 1*2 parts
As many of you have seen I am trying to sell my 182. I bought it for £4600 back in July last year and since then have spent around £400 on service and cambelt.

When i bought the car it was on 67k and since then I have put 18k on it.

The idea of selling was to buy a ph1 and free up some cash for track mods, but the only serious offer i've had is £3600. I'm not sure i'm prepared to sell it that cheap when I know its such a good motor, and its a lot of money to loose in less than a year.

Should I sell it before I loose more money on it or should I keep it and use it for my track project and accept that i'll have to buy my mods bit by bit?

Thanks Tom

I figured if i was buying a ph1 to strip i would buy one for around £1500-£2000 and that was going to free up £2000+ when I was selling at £4k. But now i'm looking at selling for £3600 its not going to free up much at all

Far too cheap !

Keep it and strip it out if you want a track toy, perfect.

Thats maybe a better bet as to find a Phase 1 owner that would prefer the 182 and some cash monies your way..?

Keep the 182 the cash you'll free up can disappear very quickly if things start going wrong.

+1

At the moment, you know this car and what needs/might need doing to it. Where as with another car you'll be starting again and the money you've freed up might need using to put it right.

I'd never let that car go for £3600.

To buy a decent ph1 will cost £2k, then theres maintainance/repairs on top of that. I reckon you'll se £500 cash back?? Never worth it.

you'd be better off selling all the stripped bits off the 182. Carpets/seats/plastics/airbags etc if you're wanting to go down the route of tracking it.

I made £330 from selling little crappy bits out of my phase 1 before I stripped it. Stupid things like carpet mats made £40!

keep it up for sale at a price your happy with and if it doesn't go then keep it imo, as said before you risk spending £2k on a ph1 and it might end up needing a bit of work so a complete waste of time, you know the 182 is a good motor so a much better place to start (if you don't sell it for a half decent price and free up enough cash to make it worthwhile)

as Daniel said sell a few bits and pieces from it to recoop some of the costs

Keep the 182, barely worth changing for the hassle of it. And you know it's a good one and the previous owner was a legend, lol.
