should the brakes on a 182 be as sharp as a 1.2 dynamique?

i bought my 182 on 22k miles, and was never driven to its full extent. I've spoken to the previous owner who's wife used it as their second car which mainly did motorway runs etc.

When i got the car it was noticeably slower than my 172, I even took it back to renault questioning its performance.

Now the car's on 24k miles and ive given it death for the last 2k miles. Its now more responsive and more on-par with my old 172 performance wise.

  RenaultSport clio 182 cup
Evening folks, just a quick one, I own both, 1.2 dynamo "52" and the 182 cup "05". Last weekend just changed the pads, disks, fluid (halfords finest 5.1 higher boiling point) on the 1.2 at 73k third set of pads, checked the rear end OK (don't forget to use new nuts). The interesting part is on the cup I nearly mashed it at 2k miles with the brakes, from a thee figure speed on a empty dual road, the brakes were poor compared to the shopping trolley, but I found that after a few hard braking stunts they were every bit and better than the 1.2, they just need to be warmed up a touch. At the moment it has Brembo disks, blue pads, braided hoses, better fluid, they are usable on the road, but they squeek like blazes. It is a trackday setup (different wheels, tyres of course) the blue pads are track dedicated, they function well when the standard pads would have expired long since. Does this help at all?

cheers

Same here, my 182 felt sluggish compared to my Cup. 2k of death, and its getting better ;)

Fingers crossed. I also notice how the power delivery is different.... 5k kick feels more pronounced than in my cup, but feels quite flat below it......!

Brakes on mine are very poor for the first few presses when wet....can almost catch you out. Their fine all other times.
