Sid’s megane R26

Bought this Megane in March from a Chris on this forum. Was meant to be garaged and used occasionally.
However I’ve enjoyed it that much I ended up using it daily and will for the summer before it goes away for the bad weather .

Never had huge plans as the car was well looked after but typically you get the bug soooo.

Popped into beanie sport for a good all over health check

Fresh gearbox fluid
Engine oil
and treated it to some new back breaks as they were looking tired.

On close inspection the paintwork was desperate for decontamination.

Spent an afternoon working out the road contamination and paint now feels much smoother and comes up well.

After driving the car for a while the steering wheel felt awful. It would twist on the wheel while driving and wasn’t really to my taste. I spent a satisfying half hour unpicking the stitching and revealed the original that wasn’t in a sorry state and much more to my taste win win.

Also cleaned the leather and fed them fingers crossed regular love will keep them in top nick

Enjoying this car a lot. My on my minor grumble was the horrendous head unit that would forget my phone every time I turned the car off.

Managed to pick up a new pioneer head unit that has car play. The pioneer shop on amazon does some crazy flash sales so bagged one £100 under retail and it’s made the car so feel much newer. Checked the door speakers as they usualLy aren’t up to much in these and it’s had the pioneer upgrades already that they made for these.

Sorry to say that I might even ad a discrete

When I had my LY R26, I always hankered after a GW one. But I think they only came later in the production (08’ onwards?)

Either way looks really smart!

with exhaust options being limited for these i had a choice of 3 that I could recall

1 Scorpion
2 ktec
3 miltec

Wasn’t really hankering after any so I got on the keyboard to Nick at pure Motor Sport and asked nicely if he would build me a 1 off turbo back system for it. Same as the one he discontinued.

After some backward and forwards the deal was done. Will be with me in a couple of weeks to replace the awful back box delete that’s on it currently.
Always had great stuff off Nick in the past so I am sure this won’t disappoint.

A couple of month of searching for new old stock genuine matts has paid off today. Managed to grab a full set of new genuine matts. Was crying at paying for them. But if I’ve learnt anything over the years bottle the unicorn tears when you get the chance.

complete b*****d to get the recirc valve off but all fitted and sounding like a max power show

freshly fitted turbo back pure motor sport exhaust really happy with how the car sound.

Also managed to get the Forge turbo intake fitted too 😀
