Depends on how much you've lowered it by, how recently you fitted the springs (they'll take time to settle and locate properly) and the make of spring - some are better than others.

no its deff from the suspension. The rattling is coming mainly from the passanger side and sounds like the spring movin around. I may take it apart tomorrow. Im thinking it may be the spring in the 'cup' part just rattling away, should there be something rubber between the spring and the 'cup'?
thanks

yes there should be a rubber at the bottom of the strut that the spring sits in (it has locating marks on it)

  Lionel Richie
how about, NO CHANCE!

build the strut in the following order (starting at bottom)

strut
large rubber ring (located correctly)
spring
top plate
bearing (the correct way up)
rubber doughnut
brass spacer
17mm nut

job done (all bits are in pic below)

  No more clio's for me!
Mines rattling too....i didn't put them in and no way have i've got the techy know how to do what fred is suggesting above. Oh well, needs servicing soon - Do you service Clio's Fred at yozzasport?

  Lionel Richie
the "top spring cup" on the diagram

we don't service cars no (unless they're having engine conversions obviously)

i will gladly check your suspension for you though

so u reckon it needs reseating in that top cup, i did have a slight problem with this while fitting iirc it has a cutout in the top cup where the end of the spring goes. i couldn't manage to keep it on that so i figured that providing it was in the cup it would eventually seat itself right.... Might have to take it to bits tomorrow..

there's your mistake

danny i might be there, but if i'm not we can arrange an afternoon for you to pop over

  www.renparts.co.uk
the main problem i had was when threading the strut cover thing in the engine bay it kept making the shock turn and so unseat the spring.. I was also having trouble getting the bottom of the shock bolted onto the (wishbone is it?) as i couldn't force it down enough, if i have both front wheels off the ground will this be easier to do (no anti roll bar working against you) or is there something else i can do to make it easier to force down?
much appreciate your help fred!

you've over tightened the engine side top mount caps then (common mistake, which causes the springs to pop out)

yes, both wheels should be in the air

how much should i torque them?, bearing in mind i don't have a torque wrench, although i may try and borrow one...
thanks
josh

tighten them up unitl you start to feel turning resistance from the shock (it'll feel slightly bouncy through the tool), thats it
