Sky HD

With Sky currently having a deal on Sky HD boxes, £199 for me. I'm tempted but want to hear peoples opinions on theirs. Is it one of these things that once you have you'll never go back? kinda like Sky+?

Cheers

I love it.

If you watch 10 minutes of HD footage and switch over to the same channel in SD you'll think you're watching a dodgy VHS copy.

Got Man U - Man City and Liverpool - Chelsea in HD on Sunday to look forward to.

How long have you had sky tho m8...I think you need to have had it for longer than 6 years to get the £100 off...anything less and it is only £50

Thanks for the offer Griff.

Had Sky over 6 years, so can get box for £199.

I've got a Yamaha DVD player with HDMI that upscales DVD's to 720p or 1080i, so I've kinda got an idea of the quality.

Have you had any problems with the box itself or the switching between HD and non HD?

No problems at all so far (touch wood). If you've got an AV amp make sure you get yourself a optical cable as most of the HD stuff is also broadcast in DD5.1 as well.

I paid full price back in March. Really impressed with it. The Top Gear polar episode looked amazing in HD.

Mine has locked up a couple of times recently when it's gone a few days without being use. Other than that it's fantastic.

Always welcome to pop over and have a look at mine too Jay. Just make sure you bring your cleaning kit.;)

It is truely amazing.. and now the football season is back, Sky Sports at weekends is pretty awesome ;)

I have a Sky HD related question so hope you dont mind the hi-jack to save another thread..

Its £10 extra for Multiroom, is it £10 again for HD?

So £43.50 (Big Mix) + £10 (Multiroom) + £10 (HD) = £63.50?

Ive tried looking at the site but its not very clear!

Cheers guys :)

I have a question like this. I have sky normal upstairs and sky+ downstairs.

So i pay for top package + £10 multiroom + £10 sky+.

If i got sky hd and had the sky+ box upstairs and got rid of old one how much would it be? Would it be same price or an extra £10?

Sky+ is free now with the top package, so you should just be able to replace your £10 sky+ charge for Sky HD.

Cool. Just checked with mum and she looked at last bill and yes we are just paying for top package and mutirom. Are you able to have a sky HD and Sky+ in the same house? I'm sure you can but parents don't think so for some reason. So if we got sky HD we should be paying what we used to? £10 more than at the moment?

I have a Virgin Media HD box and, like Sky, just aren't many channels on it at the moment. Sure it will improve though, and what they have look awesome.

Sky/Virgin + was a bigger benefit though IMO.
