Sky+ problems

  Tappd'd RS
My Sky+ won't come out of standby so I tried this :

Sky+ stuck in "standby", unable to record, loss of output to other sets.
Following this procedure may cure the problem, BUT you will lose all stored recordings.
Unplug the Sky+ receiver at the mains.
Press in the Left and Right navigation buttons on the front of the receiver whilst plugging the receiver into the mains again. Do not release the buttons until the green "play" light comes on (this may take about 30 seconds).
Press "select". The "play" light will then rotate clockwise whilst the reset procedure takes place. This may take up to 3 minutes, but can vary. The receiver will then revert to "standby".
Leave for 2-3 minutes whilst the hard drive reformats and then proceed as normal.

It didn't work, the green light never came on! I've done this before and it has worked, but it didn't this time.

Any ideas - maybe Hard Disk failure - is there another way to reset the system?

Cheers.

Probably just a fucked box, stuck in standby is a common one for the sky + boxes and can be the hard disk alot of the time.

Try unplugging the box and hold the backup button in on the box, plug it back in and keep holding the backup button untill all the lights on the box light up and it will do a force update. This may fix it but if its fucked its fucked lol and you will need to call sky up for a service call.

Thanks Guys - managed to get a forced update to work to boot the box up. All my recordings were still there but I decided to do a full reformat to start with a clean slate.

Hopefully this will be the end of my woes - thanks for the replies though!
