Sleeving cat back to cat

Just been to pipe craft in Basildon because my exhaust is leaking like a b**ch. He said no point in spending hundreds on sleeving the join. He said just take the join out and weld the cat back straight to the cat.

He said that the worst case scenario is that the cat fails and then it would be easily sorted by just doing the same again with a replacement cat.

He could easily of just gone ahead and done what I was asking but instead got the car up on the ramps and suggested a much cheaper alternative. Top bloke.

Sleeving = over £100

Welding the join = £35

No contest. I'll be booking it in next week.

That seems a lot mate, paid £40 to have mine chopped and a bolt in joint welded and fitted to the cat end and centre section end last month.

But what ever you pay this mod is worth it in

mine is is a scorpion and a royal pain in the arse, had the car 3 years and it has been resealed time and time again and never any good.

They have a minimum £30 charge anyway so I really don't mind paying £35. Especially as I was budgeting over £100 for a sleeve.

Sleeving shouldn't cost over £100, I paid about £60-£70 iirc.

What happens if your Cat should ever fail though ? Then you're gonna have the hassle of having it cut off and a new one welded back on . Just a thought !
