Slick 50 for a high mileage engine?

Got a friend who swears by this. Not seen it mentioned much. Would seem to make sense on a 113k mile engine?

What's everyone's thoughts/experiences?

Supposed to give added protection and prevent wear, i'm sure i read somewhere most of it gets taken out by the filter anyway,

Adding stuff to Oil just sounds like a mistake....

A good oil should be all you need, and additives will only ultimately cause problems, and that is from the mouth of one of Jaguar's engine designers on another forum I use.

its like anything really if all these addatives for fuel or oil were any good.. why did they not put it in the fuels and oils to start with
