Slight Oil leak

I changed the oil & filter on my car the other day, and since then it seems to be running a hell of a lot smoothly. Not that it was exactly running badly before, but you get the gist..

However, I've now noticed that the sump plug is leaving a slight puddle of oil when I'm parked up for a bit. It's on as tight as it will go; so I've got no idea how the oil's seeping through. I admittedly didn't change the washer on the sump plug as it looked fine after a rinse. I'm guessing that's my problem; but I still don't see how its getting through a tightly screwed sump plug.

So, yeah - ideas? Or have I already answered my own question?

Ohh, it will mate.
I've been there and done that (thinking that reusing a washer will be fine... drip... drip... learnt my lesson!).
I think you've answered your own question.

Either drain, renew washer, refill, or put up with the small leak until next oil change!

Before refitting I always clean the mating surfaces and the sump bolt itself as well, dirt can cause a little problem like that too.

Balls. Yeah its just coming from the sump plug - I don't get how the washer can be fudged though if it looked in perfect nick?

I can't leave it - I'm going to end up staining a big black circle in my street. I've already stained one kerb stone with black spots and feel like a gyppo for it.

Where could I get hold of one? Renault only? surely not..

For 50p you are as well changing the washer every time. As it works by compression it doesn't always work twice.

You may think almost £2quid for a washer is a piss take, but it's cheaper than a sandwich and it'll last longer.

I had a baguette today that cost over £4quid FFS!!
Thank f*ck my boss paid for it.:D

Bought one of flea bay last time for about 75p last time. £1.70 for 1g of copper in a ring is talking the pis5!

it's not a copper washer, it's a dowty washer

I wouldn't mind if it was buying one, it's ordering 20 and them turning up in the smallest bag known to man that upset me

Does anybody know if Halfords sell these?

I was looking but their site has died at the minute and I'd prefer to know if I could just get one there tomorrow as well as a couple of other bits instead of ordering one and waiting an age for it to get here.

The one I posted wanted £4 delivery. For a washer. f**k that.

On Halfords website the sump washer that comes up for "Renault sump washer" isn't the right one. No rubber insert. They do sell a washer for £1.99 with a rubber insert but that's for the Ford Mondeo and looks different, probably the wrong size.

I can definitely think of some bodges to avoid having to undo the sump plug and drain the oil. Silicone sealent FTW.

Tbf the oil should be very clean so you could just throw it back in once you've drained it, to save buying a new tub.

Copper compression on the P1 so just presumed all were like that but I stand correct on Renault ones.

Lol at cost saving on bag.
