Im just posting to ask if anybody else has noticed that their car smells of burnt fuel since they have had a decat fitted.
I notice it when i stop and get out of the car, i can smell it when walking away. My car also feels a little flat since fitting of the de-cat.

The flat spots are either due to damageing a lamba sensor or it may be that you need to re-map to suit the increase in fuel

Oh & the smell is normal, the cat usally re-burns all the un-used fuel but now it just get thrown out the back of your exhaust :approve:

Same problem here mate its overfueling, i asked my mechanic how to sort it and he said stop f**king around with it a put the cat back on or get a remap. Well i know which option i would rather take

RStuner map FTW! £170 delivered for the diy remap kit from hank, my 172 made 184.5bhp running the Group-N map along with de-cat & matched inlets, charly at surrey rolling road said it was running spot on mixture wise :approve:

Cheers for replies. My friends and ther mot tester said exactly the same about leaving it alone. They just dont understand;).
Thinking of investing in a remap or may just get Rs tuner. Is that £170 for the pro kit or standard and custom map. Sorry my knowledge is not so good on Rs tuner haven't had a good look at it so far.

Any N/A car ive had ive never noticed any difference in de cating Some times its made it worse. I imagine a re map is pretty essential. Also many N/A engines really need a certain level of back pressure in the system to work effectively. I dont bother mucking about with cats these days- to much hassle at mot time for a couple of bhp.

I must admit after driving a standard cup the other week it felt a lot more urgent than mine, I have to agree about the back pressure on N/a cars had a good deal on the de-cat so tried it. Thinking the plan is Rs tuner and take it from the there.

Its well worth decating a 172 or 182.

Probably one of the best performance per pound mods you can do on it!!

i fitted my 182 manifold at same time as my decat so cant really say how much i gained but fitting the 2 of them together it pulls like a train!! and yeah the smell is normal.

the 2 decated 182s at the scottish RR day were running down on power iirc? but mine feels much quicker than it was!

Gonna think about rs tuner then. Will the generic maps be ok and hopefully make it run better or is it worth having a custom map.
The only mods are decat, itg panel and stealth exhaust.
