Snapped bleed nipple..

How might I get the rest of the bugger out? It's left a little bit protruding but not really enough to get mole grips on.

Can I buy a new pair on their own from anywhere? They're 172 front calipers.

Annoying how 15yr old 16v rears undid fine but I had to use molegrips on the ~6yr old 172 cup fronts! One chewed one snapped, great.

Buying another caliper isnt the ideal solution.

Ideas?

once its snapped off i dault u will get it out, is possbile but difficult. With bleed nipples they wanna be soaked in spray and have the correct brake pipe spanner to undo em, as they will fuk up like urs.

try a machine shop to extract the bolt or have it drilled and re threaded?

How about you take the rest of the brakes of your 182 to join the pads, lol

Hammer a small hex key into the nipple hole?

I've had a snapped bleed nipple and removed it easily with a stud extractor , with the nipple being a soft alloy and already having a hole in the centre its a piece of piss .

Yep use a proper extraction tool, not a pikey made of chocolate one and it should come out without much of a fight.

Failing that drill, retap and use a nipple the next size up, There is enough material around the bleed hole to work with - be careful not to damage the seat though or the new nipple won't seal.

Or just chuck another caliper on.

Right will give it a go with the extractors. Where can I get new nipples? Renault only or are they a generic part?

Think I've just written that caliper off, grr. Extractor snapped in the hole so now I cant drill it either.

Anyone got a spare N/S 172/182 they'll sell me?

If the bleed nipple has snapped in the hole flish with the caliper body and has not been slackened at all and isn't leaking brake fluid and the brake pedal is still firm couldn't you just leave it in place till you need to bleed your brakes again ? ?

As i'm guessing it'll still be sealing on its seat.

I.e. The threaded end of the nipple where it meets the seat inside the caliper.

One of mine snapped when I was having the discs, pads and lines replaced. The garage said the same as D1CKY i.e. it snapped in the closed position so is sealed and its possible to bleed the brakes via the hoses still.

You had any problems running with a snapped bleed nipple ?
I'm guessing your still holding fluid ?
And the brakes are fine.
