So depressing.

  2005 Audi A3 3.2 Quattro

I went down to a local sound place and asked about their mp3 head units.

Lowest Price - R2300.00 (242 quid) for a JVC KD785

Next up the price range - R4800.00 (363 quid) for the Pioneer DEH-740MP

Then there were Kenwoods, some more JVC and a few others for over R7000.00 (530 quid)

This is just so depressing when I see how little you guys pay for your stuff :(

you can pay the exact same mate! dont worry about buying online, if anything its safer and easier than buying from shops. Just stick to the big web sites and you wont go wrong.

Ive ordered most my stuff from http://www.caraudiodirect.comwww.caraudiodirect.com

excellent chaps, know their stuff and Ive never had any problems!

Maybe you should give us a call. We have some good deals on at the moment. How about a Rockford Fosgate RFX9000R MP3 for £249.99. Even the top of the range RFX9210R is only £369.99. And the quality is much better than the Kenwoods and Pioneers of this world. Our number is 07780 976769 if you want to have a chat.

Thanks guys, Ive never had a problem with buying online although I do worry about the shipping charges and then customs on my side can be a bit of a problem ( often charging 10% or more on the value of the goods).

I might ask my brother to help me out as hes living in Scotland.

Let me look at a few of the sites

dogmaul - Al Rockford headunits are built to last and they have very strong internal amplifiers that claim to put out 25 watts RMS per channel..which is good if you arent going to amp up your speakers. As far as value goes. Im not sure how much you would get for that headunit now. I have never seen one for sale second hand unfortunately.

If a Kenwood will do you, get over to http://www.qxl.comwww.qxl.com look in the automotive/ICE bit, keep an eye out for kenwood kit from a company called Teclogic. They resell all the rejected/returned units from the factory and fix em up so they are like new, it could be a mechanical failure or something as slight as the packaging was crumpled. I got my MP9521 for £302 before it was out in the shops!
