I am so glad you are sticking to your guns and are prepared to lose the deal over it.

In that scenario I would say Renault have had their chance with the deal and lost it. The fact the sales lad put a kiss on a text to you during business is a little stupid also.

The pathetic things I have done out of principal before so others don't win from a situation is comical. Highlights: 1) Parking up and pretending to read a book when a bus pulled around a parked car on his side of the road followed by him moving his arm at me to reverse back out of his way when he was in the wrong for pulling infront. 2) leaving my car pointing into a parking space while I paid for a ticket because an old man went the wrong way around the system to try and steal the space as I was heading for it.

Never back down Needster.

LOL. I rarely do. I'll argue till I'm blue in the face.

I am calmness personified right now though so I won't get angry till tomorrow again. Ha!

Did you used to watch boiling point on tele?

Shame that the 'dream' didnt last long, but you will find another one sure enough.

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
I really Feel for you- Dealers are Sh*te full stop- part of the reason why if you pick the right specialist your never left feeling unhappy-

You have to decide whether you want to swop the car back or are happy to take some 'service' compensation as goodwill-

You have 2 ways of going about this,

1) Turn up at Said garage, hurl some fowl & abusive language towards the service team & then feel better-
This will get you no-where, whilst the rough approach works in some enviroments it certainly wont have the desired effect in the dealership- sure it may put a few other customers off, but it will get you is chucked out & a step further away from what you want-

2)- You strike me as pretty clued up, at a level that could probably run rings around your average joe soap at the dealership-

This what I Would do-

Ring first thing tomorrow morning & book an appointment with the senior sales manager- the top bod whos in-
Stress the importance of the matter & insist you get a time-

This is to use as leverage if he tries to mess you around by not sticking to it-

When appointment is due take EVERY bit of paperwork & books etc + green tear off strip in with you & calmy explain where you are-

Firm & assertive-
If you want to give the car back then just insist that it goes back, I think they will try & deter you from this & may even sort out the service book- again at that point its your choice what you do-

If you want a little compensation then I would be very clear on what you want-
Always using the background of the car is going back if you dont co-operate-

In terms of what I would push for is the following-

The date of registration on your car is 10/06/2005 - The service Schedule in the book is 2 years /12k-

If they have records of the service in 2008 then thats well outside the Threshold of Service 1-
Which was due 2007-
So you have some leverage there-

The service for 2008 then becomes the 24k service & you have then missed one Service-

Now- also if its had a service in 2009, then thats the THIRD service which is classed as the 36k One, when is the first major service-
Amoungst all the changes like, oil , filters etc the auxillary belt & tensioners should be changed-

Again if they give you any nonsence ask them to produce a service book, IIRC its on page 11 & says 3 years or 36k- whatever comes first NOT EXCEEDING THIS-

You could intimate that If they are doing the auxillary belt that the cambelt kit might as well be done as well-

So If your going in to keep the car I would be after the following-

36k FULL Service ( find the list it covers in the search on here )
Including Auxillary belt & tensioner/pulley kit = If your really good the cambelt kit as well-

best of luck-

Nope. No idea what that is? :) Yeah, like I said if it's ok then I'll keep it as it's nice enough, but they have a lot to prove and can only really do it if they find the original service book. My bets are they won't. So I'll get mine back. I don't expect something inferior.

If I get mine back, it'll probably be back to looking for another 182 which is good enough. Or back to BMW searching.

EDIT: Thanks Steve, that's helpful. :) But if the book doesn't turn up, I'm not keeping it. It's not what they sold me and thus I don't want it.

I was assured many, many times it had FSH. I don't want something that doesn't have it and therefore they can f**k off. LOL. Simple really. And believe me, I know how to complain to Renault (if you didn't see my Renault debacle thread). I did it for 10 months solid to get my R27 up to the decent standard it should have been when I bought it. It had a brand new gear box, full alloy refurb, full set of Recaro's and a few more bits and bobs... I'd have got no where if I hadn't of been firm but polite and assertive.

Nope. I wanted RB really. But as long as it ticked the options I wanted I wasn't really fussed on it's colour. Just not an inferno! LOL!

Well if you end up taking your old car home tomorrow I would be looking at RBs with both cup packs then so that this cloud has a silver lining.

Yeah, we'll see what happens tomorrow. I'm just upset and angry over it all really.

How one person can be so unlucky I'll never know. My 3rd Renault and this happens. So much for brand loyalty.

Gotta agree with revels. you should never have left with out seeing the service book and having a good look through it.

Not sure how it will be sorted but hopefully you will get it sorted.

The Evans Halshaw dealers particularly are c***s. Every single one I've dealt with has been awful and tried to rip me off in one way or another. Middlesbrough wanted nearly a grand to re-wire the airbag system (for the airbag light - common niggle) and fit new brakes which weren't needed.

Boroughbridge wanted to re-fit two broken coil springs which weren't even broken, then wouldn't replace one which was under warranty come MOT time. c***s.

As said, I'd got them to check the history several times, to be told several times it was full - they even checked their system - evidentially they were lying, or for the moment that's how it would seem. I even remember exactly what he said to me on the phone the day I rang up to enquire. If it turns out they find the book and all is well then fair enough. But currently they don't have a leg to stand on, they've mis-sold this as something it's not and witheld information, as well as asking me to undertake fraudulent dealings. I doubt they'll want me giving them grief and getting other parties involved in this.

If at any point I'd been told it didn't have the history... Do you seriously think I'd have given mine up? No way!

They're tw*ts. Plain and simple.

Bad times :(

But at end of the day it's only low mileage, worst case scenario it's never been serviced so it's what, 8k over due? Not good agreed, but once it's serviced it'll be right as rain, not worth getting so worked up about, the £500 or so you'll prob loose in re-sale value you'll get back via the crawling they'll have to do to resolve the issue.

Only read a few select bits n bobs of the thread so hope I've got the jist of it lol.

Lesson learned though on the plus side, don't buy a car without seeing it's history.

all this hassle you had with the rb bus and you've gone and bought another, riddled with more problems. Fcuk the dealers, go private. good luck, hope you get it all sorted.

Cheque was "mailed out the night before" when we swapped. They're a main dealer, he wrote on my papers and signed it that I hadn't received the cheque, so that part is covered. He said the book was in the car we had to go get tax etc. I had no reason not to trust him that it wasn't there and as I was under the impression it'd all been done at their dealership. It comes to light now this isn't so. Regardless, they're at fault and they'll do everything to rectify it!

Hindsight I should've looked at it, doing this over half hour lunch break wasn't great but the R27s insurance had been swapped to the 182.

They'd promised, sworn blind the history was there.

I'm sure it will be sorted, but theres a lesson in there some where.

Some-kinda chinese proverb; "Check s**t, or you'll be sowwwy"

They can't have sold it in a day and a half and if so they'd have to cancel that sale as the car isn't their's to sell it's registered to me still. In case anyone didn't read that part I haven't officially transferred ownership. V5 trader slip remains with me.

I was just throwing that one in there as I feel I have been way to sensible in my replies throughout this thread.

They can't sell it. It's not theirs to sell. Ownership remains with me. Luckily I wasn't going to post that part till I recieved my cash monies.

I wish it were 10am.

They're from Sunderland, Tom. Not the accent that's the issue. Just their retardedness.

I might go to sleep then when I wake up it'll only be 3 hours away.

I'm quite :( TBH. I'm one unlucky f**ker!

I have a feeling many people are not realising this is a main dealer, not some dodgy geezer under the arches. Sure, she should, in a perfect world, have insisted on seeing the book, but TBH when a main Renault dealer checks the system and assures you it has FRSH, you would tend to believe them.

It just further proves how s**t some dealers can be.

I think the best thing for all involved is for Rebecca to get the r27 back and pretend this sorry affair ever took place. For Adam the salesmanship sake, I hope he either finds that book pronto in the morning, or has tickets to somewhere far away booked for 10:01am.

Think that's a bit harsh, some are pretty decent and do a cracking job. Sadly, this guy isn't one of them and lied through his back teeth to get a sale.
