So I played Forza 3 for the first time online...

  320d M Sport
last night...and WTF?!

Why isn't it skill matched?

Only had about half a dozen goes at our kids but because there's always at least one person who's s**t hot I can never finish the track in under the 30 second countdown. WTF is all that about? Apparently our kid hasn't finished a race yet, DNF everytime lol.

Obviously it's wearing thin with him, i've not looked into the settings or anything but is this right?!

  Better than yours. C*nt.
It's ruining online experiences IMO. Call of Duty for example - there's always some fat American kid who's spent every waking hour for the last 3 years playing them and can wander around like he's god. Not only this, but through having played it for so long, he also has a significant arsenal to choose from as opposed to the guy who wants to have a laugh, who wanders in with a machete and a BB gun and never gets anything more because he never manages to kill anyone!

WTF is the point?!

i agree with mike, Hence why they bore the f**k out of me now, Used to love cod4 but 6months after thats release people just spend silly time on there, within a week people where prestege x 10 on mw2. I mena WTF. Who completes online mode 10 times over lol.

Online gaming should be a level playing field. Fair enough give people 'achievements' but unlock all the weapons from the get-up. Like Forza, at least you've got a load of stock motors to choose from in every category up to R1.

  clio 16v
yep but on forza everyone knows what the best cars are, Like the drag, As soon as i see its a datsun 510 thing i log out as you know unless you have the same car you will loose, So all silly b****cks really.

  Better than yours. C*nt.
True - however there's only so much that can be done to account for car choice and people choosing/having access to the right car and they're certainly closer to an ideal than Call of Duty.

It's why now I only really go on to play with work colleagues and the likes, as like me, they play because it's a laugh even though we're all s**t at it.

thing is with forza alot of people have well setup cars aswell so you best off finding a good tune in the storefront then just keep playing and playing till you get better. ive pissed loads of people off online ive got a 997 gt3 rs tuned in s class and it pisses over everything i havent lost a race in 23 races and all they do is boot me out the lobby or whipe me out at the beginning of the race lol

  Better than yours. C*nt.
Exactly the sort of person we're talking about. Not in it to have a laugh, you're in it to prove that your dick is bigger than everyone elses.

no not really i race with my mate online theres nothing wrong with having a good car whats the point in having tunning and upgrades if your not gonna use them?

There's nothing against that, but why enter races 'knowing' you'll win? Surely that's no fun at all? I'd rather have argey-bargey all the way round the track than waltz off and lap someone every 10 seconds.

So, so true!

Have you not read my MW2 whinges on here, yet? ;) I made the 'mistake' of playing and completing the single player campaign before venturing online - despite the fact that I obtained MW2 on release day.

By that stage, the 27-hours-per-day-online-wh0res had weaponry comparable to a small middle eastern country and I was venturing out with shat. It's more of an issue with poor game design to me, rather than an online player issue.

Online games to me should be about you learning from better players than yourself. However, learning is one thing. Getting utterly trounced because the opposition has infinitely better and configured kit than you - combined with the 'good' players on your side simply chasing achievements - means that you're little more than cannon fodder.

Bores me, tbh.

i dont know im always goin to win some people are way to serious spend hours tunning to be the fastest. i still bash people about as they do back and it is fun but you cant expect to pick up forza and be the best on it straight away when some people have been playing forza for years. you cant tell me you enter a race and hope you dont win? every one wants to win its just down to how good other players and there cars are.

Definitely, nobody likes their experience of online gaming to be getting walked over! Battlefield just about got it bang on IMO - the new guns weren't that much better that you couldn't kick arse with the free ones, and was definitely more about picking up tactics than wandering around with a gun that finds people for you and can shoot through 10" of lead.

Exactly my point! You should be able to pick up an online game and be somewhere approaching s**t hot already if you're any good at it, rather than this 'you're going to get walked over for at least 48 game hours whilst you get your cars/weapons/whatever 'upgraded' to be competitive'! That's tedious and bad game design.

Yes, I enter races and hope I win. Everyone does want to win but like A1GP it should be more biased towards how good the driver is, and less towards how good the car is. As that's what you are, sat in front of your TV. I'd love to sit and get myself better at driving, but it's tedious constantly having to try and better your car so that you can better yourself to be competitive!

the thing is with forza 3 its s**t online i used to set up online lobbys on forza 2 force every one to have the same car and its a right laugh but for some reason you cant do it on 3. i agree with you on mw2 the first day i got the game some fucker had every weapon and perk goin and was just killing everyone.

Y'see, that's what I'm on about. Everyone in the same or similar car = a lot of online fun and having a hoot. Playing MW2 now online is hard work because you're seconds from throwing your controller at the TV because some fat American kid who calls everyone '**n-bomb**' is walking around like he's on water stabbing people in the back and shooting them from 18 miles away!

On cod if you're got the skills you can still do well with the crap weapons. Just takes practice. When I'm playing on my own I want to get as many points as possible, normally so you can reach the next level towords "prestige" Not everyone just wants to run around for ten mins shooting air twice a week.

I disagree - you can do about average. You've got to remember there are people out there with that heartbeat monitor s**t that can see you coming even when they can't, and when you're wandering around thinking you can slash someone round the corner that you saw a second ago from a different place, they've turned around and are looking at you to pop one in your face before you're even there.

IMO, if there was one thing I could take out of it, that would be it. Followed by the nuke, as it's pointless.

the one thing thats really pisses me off on mw2 is unloading a whole clip on some one then thety shoot you with one bullet and your dead and they still run around grrr

I only play in private races with my mates, much more fun, plus we can abuse each other too

Even with heartbeat sensors you still get killed, dying on cod is unavoidable no matter how good you are. Once you reach an average level you get a skill perk to make you invisible to heartbeat sensors anyway.

It also doesn't show people stood behind you :rasp:

Yes, but it's much more difficult with nothing than it is with the tools you get when you prove you're half decent! Surely that's backwards? Surely it should get harder as you demonstrate that you're better at it?

The thing that pisses me off are the "tank cars" like in D and C class any car i build gets beat by audi s4's and toyota celicas, but beats everything else, so when i downloaded thetop setups for those cars I looked at the stats and theyre slower then the cars ive built. grrrr

So it seems with 95% of people on your own 'team' - and I use that word loosely. ;)

The comradery I've found on the likes of the Battlefield games has been much better than the independent Chuck Norris's than seem to populate MW2.

Probably because far too many tossers own consoles, whereas I can't think of many (myself and Roy excluded) who game on PC.

What i don't get is, why reward the other team who is already owning, with loads of killstreak awards, i sorta get that your getting rewarded for killing so many people, but once a team gets so many points ahead, it's almost impossible due to the number of planes, heli's, bombs etc that keep falling out of the sky.

When I play forza online, we all choose the same car (so it's simply skill), most of the time we race in class C/B cars, adds to the excitement lol.

I used to play Forza 2 online years ago, and I was never that good. If someone was winning and miles ahead, and I was last, I would turn around and drive into them head on.

Actually, ramming americans off the track was much more fun than racing. I don't go online anymore lol.

I'm s**t at forza and cod, so just end up in a daze whilst crashing into the barrier/getting shot.

Although I kick arse at Fifa and that's ranked!

i know im going to get a bollocking for saying this but... from what I know GT5p online puts you in races with the same level as you.. num num num :p

Speaking of MW2.

Why don't they make is so only the top 3 players each time get points. So you'd only level up when you were good. It'd keep you within your skill level.

I'm not that good at MW2 but do to the amount of times i play i'm now playing with the very high ranked players and getting bummed.

Online has always been the same. It's the game design that defines the experience and at least cheating is now far rarer. You want to try going back in time and playing Half Life deathmatch. Back then, 20% of people were cheating, with aimbots, autofire and all sorts. The only way around it was was to play in closed groups of people you knew and trusted. It sounds to me like MW2 just sucks online.

TBH I rarely play online these days but past favourites have been Half-Life PC, Medal of Honour PC, and Project Gotham Racing on the old xBox.

@Roy Munson,

Roy - I remember the days when CS was the dogs balls.. at least then you could set the server to auto move users so the teams where balanced!

why shouldn't people be rewarded for putting the hours in? for example, if you join a lobby in mw2 where everyone is prestige and you are level 2, then surely common sense tells that you'll get your pants pulled down. if you want better weapons, just play more, simple really, everyone started at the same level.

Its like playing a round of golf with Tiger woods and asking him to play using one hand and some left handed clubs. Why should he?
