Right basically long story short

I was a tool and didn't put oil in the car
Replacement engine fitted, with clutch, water pump and cam belt
Few weeks later engine wasn't sounding great as dephaser was knackered, one day driving on the bypass the engine decided to stop completely. My first thought was I'm going to kill myself after spending 1500 to get it working again.

Car went in today to be checked over and belts have slipped, the mechanic is unsure how much damage but he suggested I may want to get a new dephaser, belt, pump and new valves etc etc

Pricely sum of 1600

Arhhhhhhhh

I am having it done

I'd get another engine? Why did the belt slip on the replacement engine? Who did it?

A mate did the work for me who used to work for Renault. What I didnt realise was he didn't have a clue. FML

  A special one.
I said that the timing might have slipped mate.
I did the belts on my ph1 172 and replaced all of the cam shaft locking nuts and bolts that you get in a kit from Renault along with new cam oil seals, even bought a new crank pulley bolt.
Just not worth messing about for the sake of about 30 quid.
