This thread is turning into a bigger car crash than the original shunt.

I say better for small parts on the car been upgraded or repainted which they weren't as standard....

Repainted parts make a car better than OEM non wrecked version? Good one.

Amongst other things yes, I'd say painted parts are better than OEM parts that corrode .....

And for a huge example

May not be everyone's cup if tea but I'm pretty Sure mine looks better...

It doesn't lol. It'd be more trouble than its worth if the police got involved anyway.

Yes it does work, If someone crashes into you and its their fault then its covered by their insurance as you are the 3rd party, however if the police get involved you WILL be done for no insurance. This is 100% fact so before replying with a statement such as 'It doesn't lol' you should perhaps check that you understand how insurance works.

Another reason I stayed away from insurance despite risking losing the car, the insurance repair centre local to me... Well in short their work is appalling... Friends have used them and got wrongly coloured panels, awful panel gaps missing inner archers and fasteners, had s**tty budget tyres re fitted. Not saying that all repair centres are like that I know but the thought of it coming back looking a mess was another thing I wouldn't be happy with, yes I could of possibly saved myself a lot of money but I wanted to rebuild it myself knowing what has been done id feel safer driving it.
Yes maybe I could of claimed through them and like everyone's else claimed whiplash and such and waited for how ever long to get a cheque, resulting in lots fuss, examinations, etc etc something I really can't be fussed with. Another fact was the guy who pulled into me was my good friends dad too which I forgot to mention, who is greatly sorry. The fact I didn't declare everything to my insurance seemed to be the only thing the police where interested in.

Wow, me not getting a C63 has really bothered you hasn't it.

Could of bought the Fiesta, but renting is easier.

And again despite it been repaired it hasn't been categorised... Also you keep saying "we all know" I'm not hiding anything the car is what it is damaged repaired I really don't see that been an issue what so ever.... If it was "bodged" or done on the cheap then they're maybe an underlying issue but with a no expense spared rebuild it's as good if not BETTER than it was originally, I say better for small parts on the car been upgraded or repainted which they weren't as standard....

So you are saying that the chassis you pulled out with a jig is now 'better' than it was when it left the factory? I don't know much if anything about engineering, but I struggle to see how that works. Maybe I'm wrong.

Either way, insurance fraud etc aside, the car itself is awesome and a serious piece of kit.

Well I am an engineer, a mechanical engineer at that, no the leg in itself isn't better than standard that I can agree with completely, the elasticity of the metal has stretched and deformed but has been straighten to within 1mm of factory, yes it maybe now slightly weaker marginally but that will only be Apparent if it where to get crashed again. I didn't come in here to start any arguments or anything like that but that's all this forum seems good for,
But the fact I'm stating is various parts of the car are better than standard.

Also thanks for the praise at the end seems at least one person likes it.

I'd love to say I like it, but the pictures make my head hurt. Take some that are posted the right way up and I'll comment.

Bad luck on the insurance, and genuine LOL at people thinking there's not many cars out there that are seriously crashed then repaired without insurance. Find a friend with a bodyshop, pop down once a day, faint.

I love Evos in any colour/style etc now after recently going in a friends.. crazy cars.

Just out of curiosity, did you fund the repair or did the van driver give you a wad of cash to not go through insurance?

Some people getting 'bent' out of shape with jigging the car...

I'd like to say that if done correctly there is nothing wrong with jigging a car. Obviously of you don't know what you're doing it can be dangerous but as mentioned the OP seems to have the credentials/know the right people for the job

If jigging a car was that bad/dangerous it would be illegal. Simple as. But it isn't and is carried out on anything from this to Lambo's with no issue

On a lighter note, loving the Evo. Hope to get one myself soon :)

Haha yeah they're fun cars, no I funded it all in excess of 5k worth of damage too, but a big chunk was for carbon, plate , wheels and tyres that weren't vital as I could of got one, but I had plans from day one for the car and wanted it exactly like it is now so I'm more than happy with it. Wasn't expecting to be spending so much as soon but worth it in my eyes as personally this is my perfect evo...... Only things I have planned in the future is cleaning up the interior maybe get some flocking etc and eventually some more power not that it needs it yet.

I smashed up my escort (slid into the back of a royal mail van). I bought all front end bits for it (RST parts were easy to get back then) and sold it on without telling the next owner.

I've worked on more brand new unregistered cars than I'd care to remember..

Haha, yeah it seems people who aren't or know anyone in the motor trade are un aware of what really does go on and that cars get damaged repaired under wraps every day, even brand spanking new cars get damaged, with it be either during shipping, unloading anything then fixed in factory before they're even registered!, I know of a certain Clio v6 that a young lad drove off the lot and completely ruined the car which did get repaired and sold on un known to anyone....

Pretty sure that LHD cars didn't have the engine the other way round ;-)

Huh? The cars isn't LHD nor is the engine the wrong way.... Please read the thread before jumping in.... As started some pictures appear reversed due to the use of my internal phone camera....

Or have I totally miss interpreted you here and your not trying to be arsey? Just noticed the wink..

If so sh!t sorry dude my bad... Just seems all you get on here most of the time is arsey pointless remarks.

He was saying it because you mentioned sometimes it looks like a LHD in photos. He was just stating that the engine will still be the same way round.
