So What Was Chasing That Focus?

  Homo spec mazda
The Focus looks all mean and focussed, the clio looks dopey.

Its like a cross eyed child trying to chase a football with the pro's.

We all know it was the Clio, someone took a screencap of its reflection in the Focus rear bumper :) This just proves the clio is more than capable of keeping up with the RS in the twisties ;)

EDIT: Why does he keep bouncing it off the rev limiter?

Impressive video. Be interested to see the lap times with the same driver in each car.

I disagree! I thought it looked quite focused. Didn't look shaky at all.

It looks awesome in AG with black wheels.

How many times did that fat bloke say 'disappear/ed' though.

Ask yourself what would you rather be driving...

  Clio MK 4
looked quite nice in that video. Still dont like the front. I'd still rather the RS but you would b a bit pissed off to have a much less expensive little renault keep up with you lol

It doesn't matter how much it is because people would rather buy a used 197 than the disabled love child of a 197 and frog eye sprite.

Flol, half price! How? The FRS is 25k iirc.

and you will be able to get a clio cup 200 for £13.5k as usual on renaultsport.co.uk dealers..

i just lol at the thread where i said it was as capable as the FRS and got shot down. It clearly is a better handling car but doesnt have the straight line pace.. which means its like an elise awesome handling but no real straight line poke..

on a twisty uk b road the ford barry boy showing off his new Focus RS to his mates wont leave a clio 200 that will happen at some point and will be quite funny TBH :D

about the looks ? does it really matter that much ? if the focus RS looked like the clio would people buy it, and on the flipside if the clio handled worse,20mpg, grp 20 ins, £25k but had 300bhp and looked like a focus rs would they buy that.. really just proves that most young lads just want a fast straight line car with lots of big chavvy bits stuck on and most will never see anything other than McDonalds car park..

Rest assured. you'd get more grip out of a williams.
Glad renaultsport are still making good cars though.

As per usual, nonsense. As Sutcliffe mentioned in the video, thats flat out driving in a controlled environment. You'd be an utter prick to drive either of those cars that hard on the road.

well exactly my point m8 :)

we all know it feels easier to extract handling on a renaultsport where as if you chuck around a 1500kg car its not with quite the same confidence, so on a twisty road the clio will be there all the time... on a open road a/bypass the clio will be dust.. but then so could be your license

i agree, in point that you would only buy the focus for its special/rare factor, there are other hatches and certainley saloons that are easy to get the same speed.

a hothatch should be all about fun. at £13.5k (real price people pay) its just showing that its such a capable little car that it can hang with the ultimate hatches

and personally the looks maybe mar mite but its not exactly hideous

Stop being pedantic.
How is that pedantic fella? You thought the price was 30k, it's a fair distance from that? And def not half price?

Impressive performance from the 200, I can't wait to have a go in one, if the steerings improved they've addressed pretty much every issue I had with the 197 tbh.

True, and the looks are subjective tbf.

Its close enough. With a bit of haggling, I'm sure you could buy two RS200's for the price of a Focus.. Most FRS' seem to be selling for nearer the 30k mark once a couple of options have been ticked.

Your opinion is wrong. It's hideous. ;)

I love the RS. Seriously, I want to mate with it.

Green, please!

It's only 197 owners who are moaning cause their cars have now been replaced after 2 and half/three years. They are still going to sell plenty of them. So long as the handling is the similar or better then change is good can't wait to see the Mk4 that was shown in Auto Express a few weeks back supposed to be out in 2011. Now that looks more focused (even if it was only an artists impression)

You may not like the front but you have to admit the rear has been improved.

  Megane R26
I want to change my R27 for a 200, but it makes no sense to do so yet.

I'll see what the Meg is like. THAT will be a more interesting (and fair!) video...

Initially I preferred the rear, but having seen a close up I prefer the 197's. The exhaust trim looks shoddy on the 200 imo.

Am I right in saying it's the handling that's important and not the looks to you?

You are in the minority my friend.

A car catches your eye on looks before you drive it... Fact!

They always get replaced. There were so many versions of the cliosport brand from 2000 onwards its unreal. Now heres another.Im sure its nice to drive ,but its no FRS to look at by a long way.I think the only colour that may mask that front(punched in the face)end is black.

It did really well round a track though, but seen as nobody drives like that on a road then it will be the usual D/C-motorway slip road where the races take place and as the guy in the video said its got no chance. It did well though and for half the money of the focus its a great drive...
