Sorry i'm using your thread but no need in making a new one because you're discussing almost the same details. Can anyone tell me if theres a third type of ph1's? I don't have any cup suspension and the car weighs 1100kg. Also no Climate control, only AC. So it's not a cup, not a FF, what is it? A regular 172 ph1? thx for the replies. Searched but found nothing :/

i thought there was only the one 172 and v6 of the phase 1 RS flavour?

Around a track, for what it's worth, I reckon an R27 would have it.

not read the full thread but ill put my bit in....

the engines vary in power that much that really, you cant pick one thats faster than the other, some 172s make 165bhp or less some make 172 or more! same goes for the 182.

but as we all know weight also affects the handling! thats another argument!!

same, i rekon if all the RS's were put on a track with identical drivers the 172 Cup would just edge it, but we really are talking 10'ths of seconds here, its a null argument.

disagree, round a track the R27 or 197 Cup would whoop it's arse, the handling is much much better than any other RS i've been in or driven. Most unbiased people that have driven all of them would probably agree too, as what they lack in outright speed they make up for with better brakes and better cornering ability.
