Confused...

What are the options out there for the F4R valve train other than valves and springs?

Which parts in the head are called what? (lifters rockers lashes fingers)?

For instance what are these / how do they work?

The complete kit is what I looked at a few moths ago the problem is it doesn't end there. The whole idea of fitting the kit is to rev it above 8k but when you do that for reliability you would want a forged crank (circa 2k) then you would need to find a solution to it wanting to spin bearings all the time and many other little issues. From the people I have spoken to it could be worth risking the std crank and normal style bearing to 8500rpm but it didn't sound like the engine would last very long.

Reliability on what, a stock hp engine? High comp NA? Boosted? stock revs? high revs?

If its big RPM you want, then the rockers need to go as well really not just the lifters.

BUT having said that, the advantage of going to solid lifters is that if you do have a rocker failure it will generally be a pretty graceful failure, where as if a lifter jacks up too much due to valve bounce and then holds the valve open it can be a catastrophic failure.

So if I was trying to rev an F4R over 8K on the cheap, its how I would do it, with just the lifters and not the rockers.

RsTuning - reliability or the option to run more 'aggressive' parts (such as cams) within a normal limiter (7.8k ish). Engine is intended to be raised compression NA for racing/track only. (Not a road legal car).

But the stock lifters are reliable at 7800 so whats the point?

If you want to run a cam with much more lift then thats fine but otherwise don't waste a lot of time and money doing it.

I have a set in an engine i'm building at the moment and they are a work of art but at nearly £3000 for the set with cams and all the other required bits they are far from cheap!
