Some help please guys - wheel bearing?

I've noticed a small squeak-type noise earlier, but noticed it more yesterday on the run back from Donington. It sounds like those knackered taxis when they apply the brakes and have that high-pitched squeak noise. The symptoms are:-
  • Only ever happens when the car is coasting along. If I brake, accelerate or turn, the squeaking stops. It then starts again maybe 5-10 seconds later.
  • Does it at any speeds - from 15mph upto 60mph. Faster than that, I can't hear it, though that maybe due to road noise drowning it out.
  • Definitely more prominent from the passenger side front. If both windows are down and I pass parked traffic or a building, I can hear it more loudly.
  • I checked the wheels hubs for accessive heat as soon as I finished the drive back yesterday. All four wheels felt the same - mildly warm. I expected one to be warmer?
Any suggestions would be great, chaps. I'd rather act on your advice than hand it straight over to the Reno stealers to look at....

I'd guess passenger side brake pad rubbing slightly?

No idea... lol

Stick some oil on your disks that'll sort it ;)

wheel bearing check = jack up front of vehicle until wheels off the deck, grab the top and bottom of the wheel and see if there is any play by rocking..no play, wheel bearings ok...

Cool idea! I was hoping to deflate my tyres and try that at the same time as it was bouncing down with rain!!! :rasp:

I did think at one point if it was a brake pad. Especially as braking did make it stop - if only temporarily. It's more annoying than anything...
