Some how gone through multiple sets of brake pads in one year?

I'm confuzzled! :S

I travel on backroads on the way to work and there's a big hill on the way. Everyone brakes constantly down the hill yet I just drop down into 4th at about 55/60 and don't have to touch the brakes at all. Or am I misinterpretting????!!

i'm confused too richy - i got the wrong end of the stick me thinks :banghead:

Well I didn't gripe about it as such because it was free anyways, but I was slightly annoyed because there is a knocking sound coming from under the car when turning and I was hoping that they would pick it up, but because there was no ramp free, they were unable to check them.

They didn't even pick up that my brake pads were almost out :|

They were very polite though!

I will be having the car up on jacks tomorrow to see if the wheels spin freely !

Been to kwik fits today (best service I have ever received!) and they had a look at my car for me. It is in fact the calipers are sticking .. Will be cleaning them off tomorrow and fitting some new pads

i was wondering why it has been a bit slower recently

Last year, I managed to do 0-62 (on stopwatch, so not entirely accurate) in 11.9 seconds in my 1999 1.2 8v clio. It now struggles to do it in 14.5 seconds

The low pads will explain the low fluid level. They should have known to look for that.

I just put it down to my 10 year old car having done 140k miles and slowly grinding to a hault.

@ Roy, yeah that would explain things, because of the piston in the calipers?

Although, the brake fluid levels are BELOW MINIMUM

Yeah, the fluid level goes down as the pistons fill up with fluid.The warning light normally comes on sooner or later.
