Some quick progress made :)

Seeing as the weather was decent today I gave the car another good clean insideto try remove the rest of the sand from everywhere, after 2 hors and it still needing cleaning I gave up on that and will either work on it again tomorrow or just get it booked for a valet :rasp:

Then upon seeing my fog lights had arrived I quickly set to spraying the diamond, fog surrounds and bullets. Would have done rear badges but I ran out of primer :(

Pics...

Also tint sprayed a section of the rear lights slightly, left one messed up slightly so needs to be re-done as it has some blobs and its not as dark as the right, not bad for a first attempt though :)

No pics of bullets yet as their just plain white and havent got around to detailing the writing on them.

Got dual optics on the way and colour coded mirrors :)

Views on the car so far now? :)

Also, if anyone knows what screws I need to secure the fog lights in please help me out - http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?530244-Securing-fog-light-surrounds

Fog surrounds look s**t, dont like the tinted rear lights, and you need to colour code the bumpers and side strips

What dont you light about the surrounds? What colour would be better?

Tinted rear lights are a mess atm, only tinting the center of them though so I don't think their too bad :)

Strips and bumper do need colour coding but im tight on the ol ££ currently :(

Car modifying: You're doing it wrong.

People are too quick to make their own stamp on a car when in reality, sorting out what you've got would make the biggest difference. By that I mean a decent machine polish, standard foglights, clean number plates, and a good valet.

Would make a HUGE difference to the car and will cost you peanuts.

Problem with the red is im not sure whats faded and what hasn't, does halfords or somewhere do colour matching?

Will be getting the strips and bumpers colour coded too if I can get the right colour made up for them

This. Always to the best start to making a car look better is to improve what you already have, keep it cheap an simple

Car was polished Saturday, got back today after 3 days of rain and a 200mile trip and it needs it done again, that won't take me long to do anyway.

Number plates are brand new, just need a clean from the rain water and flies again from the trip today, and the valet will be done Thursday also after the lambda sensor is replaced.

Best rear light upgrade IMO would be ph2 lights. Colour the outside of the fogs red and other colour coding then like danial said a good machine polish and clean.
People on here are harsh but I can see your keen ya just need keeping on the right track.

Thanks, will get some rear lights soon enough but I was working with what I had lying around for all this, cost me nothing to do it all :)

Will need to see about getting red colour match for the paint, thats the problem with it, was polished up nicely on Saturday, the pics now are after a 200mile trip in the rain so it won't be looking the best.

hand polished I assume? wont do half as good a job as a decent machine polish - especially on red, as its very prone to fading. Deffo get a machine polish prior to any colour coding, to see what you've got to work with.

Ph2 rear lights as said would make the rear end nicer, and can be fairly cheap/easy to come by.

Was hand polished yeah, gong to get it sent somewhere to get it machine polished to se how it all comes up again :)

Ive only had the car since last Monday and with the weather I havent had a chance to be able to do much with it. Will look better when finished :)

Ouch.... ok.... I'll give you my honest opinion. You haven't done anything right yet.

The white badge, fair enough, ish, but the rest, no.

Use that white on the fog surrounds as a primer, key it up and paint them red, the same red as the car, or black, satin black. Either will look 1,000,000x better.

You wasted money on spray for the lights, when it could have been put towards Ph2 lights, I'd stop spending on random bits because you're bored and save up a tiny bit more for bits that make a real difference.

The best bits to do to a mk2 ph1 are the following:

Ph2 rear lights.
"Dynamique" style spoiler, also found on the ph1 "sport" models, the ph1 and 2 172.
Colour code the spoiler, side strips, wing mirrors, and bumper plastics. (If you can't afford all, just do the spoiler and wing mirrors or something, makes a big difference).
Fogs (which you've done, badly).
Dual optic headlights.
Shorter Aerial (available from Halfords for around £7)
New number plates.
Lower it.
Subtle alloy wheels. 15/16".

Done.

Yeah I think the badge looks alright but the fogs do look odd now, thought it would have looked better when spraying them really than it turned out to be.

Ill pop down halfords later to get some red paint, do they do the real colours? or pretty similar ones? if I can get it today ill spray the fog surrounds again and the side strips also. Can't see myself doing the bumper parts at home.

Spray from the lights cost me nothing, like the rest of the paint, all of what I did was free from stuff hanging around in the garage :)

Got dual optics on the way to me and some already colour coded mirrors :)

Im looking at getting a dynamique spolier too, but curently I can't afford to. Number plates are brand new already, they are just dirty in the pictures.

Lowering will increase my insurance so I can't :( and im also waiting for some more money to get some alloys :)

please please please get the correct red or do them satin black, dont get a read that is similar it will look ever worse, but if you do all what rob has suggested above ur on to a winner! have a search for non sport examples theres lots of nice ones on here!

Halfords do model specific colours, there's a sticker inside the drivers door which has your colour code on it too.

Thanks, ill have a look at the colour code later and check at halfords :)

I will get the colour code and see if halfords has it, if not then I will sand back down and do them black :)

Yeah buying some bits off a non sport thats the same colour as mine, just waiting for them to arrive :)

Oh, another awesome mod is getting hold of a set of sport seats and door cards, transforms the inside of the car. (But obviously it'll cost a wee bit)

Yeah that won't be happening for a good few months, interior of the car currently is a right mess anyway so I will need to change it eventually. Problem would be though that the sport interior has elec windows dont they? Mine only has window winders

Just enjoy swapping and changing things, you can always go back, we've all done mods that we regret a few weeks later.

I reckon in a month or so you'll change your mind about the fog lights but at least you've done, I was the same with mine, did grey badges, in my head I thought ace, few weeks later they just didn't look right so tried something new!

Tints on lights will only be till I get a set of PH2 ones, just wanted them to be abit different for now.
