SOMEONE HERE MUST KNOW!!!!

I have a little probably with my 182...

When I go round bends or if im on the ring road on the motorway the Red 'STOP' light and hand break light flickers on the dash.

It continues to do this until my car is levelled out again then it goes off and its fine!!

Its really doing my head in, I 1st thought it could be something to do with the oil with it all going over to one side, but surely the oil light would come on wouldnt it?

Any help would be great please guys!

Thanks in advance!!

You don't, you top up the brake fluid.

Which is located right at the back of the engine, on the left hand side (in front of drivers seat), you need to take the engine cover off if you still have it on.

Ive Just taken my engine cover off and can see where the brake fluid goes but how do i know how much to put in? i dont know where the levels are to judge etc...

Also, Before taking the cap off do i need to unclip the sensor thing thats clipped onto the cap? (Sorry for sounding so nOObish )

technically you lot aren't 100% correct, worn brake pads causes low brake fluid level, the brake fluid doesn't just disappear!

Agreed, its a good indication it might be worth checking if your pads are worn out, otherwise you top the fluid up one week, then next week you end up pushing it all back out again when you push the caliper pistons back to fit new pads in, lol

The pads look fine IMO.... Although, the other day i did hear them starting to squeak a little after i had to brake hard when a numpty infront decided to jam on because a magpie as in the road

I'll change them anyway just to be on the safe side!

Look fine in what way?
Roughly how many mm of material left? (ignore the thickness of the steel plate the material is mounted on)

Almost definitely worn pads. As said, don't just topup the fluid. If you do, it will overflow when the pads are replaced.

I'd say about 4mm, think i'll change the pads before i top the fluid up.

Would it still be classed as the brakes though if the lights on the dash only start flickering when im going left round a bend... doesnt happen when i go right round a bend!!

Its just where the fluid is moving away from the sensor.
Leave it a bit longer till the level drops a little more and it will be on all the time.

Right now no one panic here but... I topped up my brake fluid after having this problem and yes.. My pads need replacing they are in my car just need weather to fit them. What happens when I replace them and the level of brake fluid goes back to normal... I may have made a boo boo didn't think about brake wear and tear :(

Remove some fluid with a syringe before pushing the pistons back?

You'll just need to syringe out a bit of the fluid to prevent the level going too high.

Or you could take the opportunity to change the fluid while you're at it. Or at least refresh the stuff near the callipers buy bleeding some off before fitting the new pads, then topping up with fresh fluid when you're all done.

Smart thinking! I like it, Probably the better option as I can just stay down at the brake end and do the job in one.

Whatever you do, do NOT let the fluid level get low enough to draw air in through the reservoir. Keep an eye on it at all times.

Nah it's not that big of a deal. You just need to make sure that you don't bleed so much out that the reservoir runs dry. If you do, air will be sucked in, and it can be a right pain getting it out. This happened to me, and I got through quite a bit of fluid bleeding the air back out of the system.
