Sonax BSD Pics

I have had the Sonax BSD/QD for quite a while.

I deviated from the product in the never ending quest for “better” so I bought some sio2 ceramic sealant.
It was / is a complete nightmare to apply and left smears everywhere.
I have found a perfect mix though with

60% Somax BSD
30% sio2
10% auto finesse rejuvenate

Shake it like mad for 30 seconds and use the sonax disperser.

1 squirt on cloth for lubrication ( fnarr, fnarr ) and then light mists on the panel and it works well and the hydrophobic properties are still lasting 2.5mo later on my wife’s mini that is out all year round.

On my exige post track day I snowfoamed the car and really didn’t feel that the shampoo bucket I had ready was justified. Flies had already gone and dust removed.

The sio2 component I understand, but why Autofinesse Rejuvenate?

That's a pre wax cleanser with micro abrasives and glaze components, not sure I'd use that over my nicely waxed car.

Two very good reasons

1) I had some left
2) it’s a brilliant filler. When using the mix it fills , seals and really enhanced the shine.
I don’t use wax ..

Never would have thought about adding Rejuvenate. If I have a neighbours shed to wash I'll give that a go, kind of making your own All-in-one.

Thought i'd add some pics too. These are all just a normal wash, sprayed on after rinsing, and then dried with a towel. It even makes my rough looking 197 quite tidy.
Pic of the missus's car which is completely un-cared for too.

I must admit I don't really experience any issues with BSD. It's a bit thick from the standard bottle, but I just do a panel at a time. One cloth to apply and then a second to buff. Love the smell of it too. For the money its great. I have just bought some of the turtle wax stuff see how that compares.

Beading is amazing.

I mix mine with C2v3 which definitely makes it much slicker than on its own. The C2v3 should also give it more durability but gives the better beading from the BSD.

Which sio2 product did you mix in?

Good combo. It's only good because it's cheap. It's not easy to apply and it's not slick. But it lasts and beads and sheets.

What would you recommend that is easier to apply and slick, just out of curiosity. I am a bit late to all these products and keen to try out a few different products. I don't mind spending a bit more money too.

Post nr 37 I think, done and dusted or Inifinity Wax Rapid Detailer. I've yet to try the mix with rapid detailer, but that stuff on its own really is amazing, super slick finish, just flashes off without smears and has pretty decent beading doe a couple of weeks!

My best one until recently was bouncers done and dusted but I could t recommend infinity wax rapid detailer more. It's brilliant essentially you're you're adding protection to your QD or making your BSD easy to use.

Or even find a cheaper QD like serious performance etc. Experiments are half the fun.

Dave on here first mixed chemical guys v7. He discovered how to get the best from bsd.

Indeed it depends if protection is key. The likes of C2V3 and si from bouncers is nicer to use and slicker. I have to enjoy a little bit of using a spray product and it's shouldn't be a bit of a chore or worry when working with it.

I've gone through gallons of it. I use it as work a lot for different purposes and have diluted with so many products.

If this product was £10/£12 it would be lying on shelves somewhere because other products in that price range have none of the BSD drawbacks.

It's not one of those enjoyable products and detailing to me is enjoyable. Get a bottle of Z8 or Z6 and then tell me BSD doesn't have drawbacks. Z8 and Z6 were made 15+ years ago generally speaking.

Price difference yes.

Just ordered some infinity rapid wax to try. Will try some Zaino Z8(once I find some) and report back how I find them in comparison.

The infinity rapid wax turned up this morning. Well impressed 👍 I see what you mean. Very easy to apply and looks great. Did the whole of my transporter in record time. And the smell 😍 Will clean and apply to the inferno tomorrow.

Only issue I had was the bonnet was quite warm when I applied it and looked a bit streaky. Will make sure I only use when cool. Rest of the panels were fine and absolute joy to apply.
