Sony DVD Writer

Bought the new Sony DVD Writer from novatech

Is it normal that I didn't get a CD with it?

Just plugged it in, and windows hasn't detected anything?

Also, I obviously haven't got a program to burn DVD's either....

Any help? PC's aren't my thing as you can probably tell lol.

been a while since i bought mine so unfortunately i can't remember but then thinking about it i have had it on two laptops and this one i definitely didn't install a cd so it works with XP. As yours is brand new the driver may not be in XP, try getting it from the sony site, think their storage site is www.sonyisstorage.com

as for a writing program, windows has it built in, if not then i use sonic record now when i'm not using nero, but i would be surprised if it didn't come with recording software, sony is normally very good at including software.

You got the OEM version, cheaper, but comes without box, manual cd etc etc

You shoudnt need drivers, XP will pick it up no problems

Makes sure you have the jumpers setup correctly on the back of the drive
